This year the BMW X6 will be offered in 2 trim levels to choose from, mainly known as xDrive35i and xDrive50i. The price of the car starts from $60,800 for the xDrive35i and goes up to $71,400 for the xDrive50i. Prices can also alter based on the optional packages you choose from. The changes in the trims are that it gets additional driving aids and safety features and also a more powerful engine for better performance.

 As the price of the Base trim level is already high we recommend you go for the xDrive35i trim only with no additional packages. It offers plenty of features for a lower price and is convenient for daily driving. It has premiums like a 10 speaker audio system, heated 10-way power seats, leather upholstery, etc that are more than enough for a Base trim. If you want to further enhance your experience then you can opt for the Dynamic Handling package that will improve the drivability of this car a bit.

The 2014 BMW X6 is available with two engine options to choose from. The Base xDrive35i will carry a 3.0L Turbocharged inline-6 cylinder engine that produces 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Coming to the xDrive50i, it has a 4.4L V8 Turbocharged engine which can churn out 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. 

The drivetrain is AWD with an 8-speed automatic gearbox which is standard across the entire range of the BMW X6. The engine is very refined and the handling is surprisingly very good. You won’t feel any bumps in the cabin as the suspension soaks up most of it. Now coming to the acceleration the base 3.0L Turbocharged inline-6 cylinder engine can do 0-60 in 6.4 seconds and a quarter-mile in 14.8 seconds.

Here the INFINITI QX70 beats its competition in the 0-60 race and is also the fastest vehicle when it comes to quarter-mile timings. The Land Rover Range Rover Sport on the other hand is the slowest in terms of its performance. While, the power output on the BMW X6 is sufficient, but looking at its competition it could have been better. However, if you want better performance then you can opt for the xDrive50i. The Porsche Cayenne on the other hand has a top speed of 160 mph.

The 2014 BMW X6 is pretty good in terms of fuel economy. The base 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 cylinder engine provides 17 MPG in the city, 24 MPG on the highway, and 20 MPG combined. Opting for the xDrive50i trim level the BMW X6 becomes a bit less efficient. However, the fuel tank capacity could have been better which would have increased its overall range. 

The Porsche Cayenne is the most fuel-efficient when compared to its competitors followed by the Land Rover Range Rover Sport coming second on the list. Meanwhile, INFINITI QX70 is the worst in the MPG department due to its high-performance engine while comparing with its rivals. On the range test, the Land Rover performs seemingly well and smashes all its competition.

The interior of the 2014 BMW X6 looks massive and comfortable along with its luxury. It is easily recognizable as most of the underpinnings are from the BMW X5. The interior of the car is made with upscale materials. The space in the front is sufficient so taller folks won’t find any issues. The dashboard design is big which looks like it is from a proper SUV. The dashboard is covered in leather. The steering wheel is very light and smooth. 

The steering wheel is also wrapped in leather. The buttons on the steering wheel are nicely arranged and are very straightforward. The 2014 BMW X6 seats 4 people in two rows with an additional option that allows it to accommodate 5 people. The front seats are cushioned and are very comfortable. Leather seats come as standard on the 2014 BMW X6. The armrest is wide and comfortable for both the driver as well as the passenger. The space towards the rear is sufficient. Two adults can sit easily but the headroom is a bit small because of its sloping roofline. Overall the entire interior of the 2014 BMW X6 is premium and comfortable.

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is better than its competitors when it comes to its interior space. The BMW X6 has the least passenger space because of the size of the car. Apart from this it also has a decent cargo trunk as compared to its rivals. The Land Rover Range Rover Sport has the best cargo space in the class. How intuitive is the 2014 BMW X6’s infotainment unit?

The 2014 BMW X6 has an iDrive interface with the BMW app support. The display is of good quality and there is no screen glare issue even in bright sunlight. The touchscreen is very responsive and is straightforward to use. The font size used in the display is big enough and easily readable. The infotainment can be controlled by a knob that is present on the center console. 

It has Bluetooth connectivity with which you can connect your smartphone with the infotainment system. It has USB ports and Auxiliary ports. It also has a CD/DVD player. It has a WiFi hotspot which will ensure a stable internet connection inside the car. Furthermore, it has a 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo system that will take the party on the roads. The Porsche Cayenne has the best ground clearance of 8.7 inches which makes it a good off-roading vehicle. It has good MPG figures which makes it practical as well. The exteriors and the interiors are very appealing. The only problem with it is that it is overpriced for this class. So, if money is not a problem and you are planning to go for the 2014 BMW X6 then you have made the right choice.
