Overview

If you’ve always dreamt of living your life like agent 007 with thugs chasing you while you swift through winding corners with a scenic view in the background, getting yourself the 2022 Aston Martin DB11 will be the perfect place to start with. The DB11 from Aston Martin, which is undoubtedly exotic, walks the line between a sports car and a grand tourer. No matter whether it is equipped with a fixed roof or a retractable soft top, its long, low, and wide body grab attention. The exotic two-door Aston Martin DB11 is a grand tourer and it combines the sports coupe's high-speed athleticism with a luxury vehicle's plush ride. The exterior of the DB11 is both subtle and breathtaking, giving it a certain understated elegance that many outspoken sports cars simply won't be able to equal.

Buying Advice

The Aston Martin DB11 Coupe comes as a single-trim vehicle and hence, there aren’t any recommendations that can be made. However, the buyers get to choose additional features and customization options to make the car look unique.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The interior combines the materials mastery of Aston Martin with the comparatively simple infotainment system from Mercedes-Benz to create a tale of two automakers. This partnership is also seen in terms of the engine as the standard V8 is developed in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz while the massive V12 was developed in-house. Although the Aston Martin DB11 is a wonderful grand tourer, it faces stiff competition in the luxurious midsize coupe market. The Bentley Continental GT, which offers a fantastic driving experience and unmatched interior materials, is first among these. Further toughening the competition are cars like the McLaren GT and the Ferrari Roma. Placing itself in between high-performance cars and luxurious grand tourers is indeed a risky move it seems to have paid off well for Aston Martin. For 2022, the brand also managed to squeeze

Features
9.0/10

The Aston Martin DB11 comes in three avatars, each unique in its own sense and putting them against different rivals. The coupe will simply be called the V8 while and will share all the features and options with the roofless Volante. Some of the standard features that the DB11 comes with are adaptive suspension, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-speaker audio system, an 8-inch infotainment system developed in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, and driver assistance features. The DB11 also comes in a third variant that carries all the same features in the spec list along with the regular optional features but houses a massive 12-cylinder engine. This trim will only come in a coupe format and is worthy of having a separate review as the performance makes it feel like a whole new vehicle. The pricing for the 2022 Aston Martin DB11 V8 coupe will start at $208,425 and increase depending on the additional features picked.

Release Date

The Aston Martin DB11 was officially unveiled with the increased power in the second half of 2021. The coupe will reach the customers by the end of 2021 or early 2022.

Fuel Economy
8.0/10

The Aston Martin DB11 has remarkably good fuel efficiency considering its tremendous performance. The EPA projects that the DB11 V8 will achieve 18 city mpg and 24 highway mpg. This also translates that in a combined driving condition, the DB11 will at least pump out 20 mpg. A 20.5-gallon fuel tank might not be the largest but it sure helps Aston Martin keep the weight low. The brand was keen on extracting such fuel economy to stay true to the Grand Tiurer tag.

While the overall EPA estimates suggest the DB11 to be the most fuel-efficient vehicle, your touring would feel uninterrupted only in the Bentley due to its larger tank, allowing better range. While both Bentley and Aston Martin are great choices to pick if you look on saving some gas money but the same cannot be said about the remaining rivals. The Mclaren happens to be the least efficient and carries the smallest gas tank in the category. The Roma sits sandwiched between the Aston and the Mclaren, but as far as Ferrari’s are concerned, the Roma has done a good job in terms of fuel consumption.

Interior
8.9/10

DB11's inside is comfortable and may be personalized with flashy hues and exotic materials. Unusually cheap-feeling switchgear and irregular panel installation have both been observed. Even so, these flaws pale in comparison to the generally lavish and thrilling experience of driving this vehicle. The car comes standard with keyless entry, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and leather upholstery. Front seats with ventilation and a heated steering wheel are available as options. The center-console bin, which pulls open to reveal cupholders and a handy tray, is the only area inside the DB11 to put small objects. Most items you touch have a handmade quality, such as the brogued leather on the doors and the stitching surrounding the sat nav screen. You also get to hear a comforting ‘ting’ when you flick the precisely sized metal paddles with your fingers. The ergonomics are rather comfortable and the visibility is clear despite the seats being positioned low. The only distraction is the thick A-pillar which blocks the view when pulling out of a side road.

Though these cars are considered to be tourers or are at least called one, not all of them offer the necessary space that is expected from such a vehicle. The Aston Martin DB11 holds the smallest trunk, making it less likely to hold all your luggage but since the rear seats aren’t all that spacious, users might end up using that as storage space. Mclaren is the only car to come in a two-seat configuration, making it as impractical as a full-fledged sports car but the automaker has managed to squeeze out 14.8 cu-ft f cargo space, making it the largest for the class. Though Ferrari hasn’t given out figures for the cabin, the space and dimensions are very similar to that of the DB11. The Bentley has the most balanced space out of them all with a sizable cabin as well as a decent trunk.

Some standout interior features on the 2022 Aston Martin DB11 include

  • Heated-cushioned seats for driver and front passenger
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Imitation leather headliner
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Premium leather upholstery
  • Ventilated front seats

How intuitive is the 2022 Aston Martin DB11 infotainment system?

The infotainment system, which is derived from Mercedes-Benz, offers intuitive controls and appealing menus. A conventional rotary controller or the optional touchpad on the center console is used to navigate the 8.0-inch screen. A fully digital gauge cluster is located behind the driver's seat and can be customized to display various performance and informational data. Every DB11 is equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot in addition to a 400-watt audio system and SiriusXM satellite radio by Aston Martin. Customers have the option of upgrading to a 1000-watt Bang & Olufsen speaker system or a 700-watt sound system.

Some of the standout infotainment features on the 2022 Aston Martin DB11 are

  • 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen
  • 6-Speaker or 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system
  • Android Auto and Apple Carplay
  • SiriusXM satellite radio
  • Voice-Activated Touchscreen Navigation System
  • Digital gauge cluster

Exterior
8.9/10

Aston Martins have always been known to be one of the most beautiful looking cars and the DB11 proves that no matter which angle you look at it from. The coupe has a lean and sharp look to it with the iconic Aston Marti grill that is sized proportionately. The front fascia is enhanced with tastefully shaped headlights that carry integrated LED DRLs, giving the car a meaner look. From the sides, the DB11 has a very streamlined look that makes the car appear like it is in motion even while stopped. Smoked and modern tail lamps on the back give it a refined and exotic appearance. All this is sat on 20-inch wheels that look perfect for the whole proportion that this car follows.

The Aston Martin happens to be heavier than the Mclaren and Ferrari but it still stays under the 4,000 lbs mark. That isn’t the case with the Continental GT and its heavy weight makes the car feel less agile, especially around the corners. Getting into the DB11 might be a challenge as the car sits really low in terms of the overall height as well as the ground clearance and also happens to be a very long car, falling short by just 4-inches when compared to the Bentley. The McLaren might not be the best choice for driving in the city as the GT is a wide car and maneuvering through tight spots might need an extra set of eyes.

Some of the standout exterior features include

  • 20-inch alloy wheels
  • Painted brake calipers
  • LED headlamps and DRLs
  • Optional carbon roof
  • Optional exterior carbon trims
  • Standard or a blacked-out grille

Safety
8.0/10

Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has conducted crash tests on the Aston Martin DB11. This is typical for cars in this category. However, the DB11 comes with some of the newest driving aids as standard equipment, but given its high starting price, the list is sparse. Front and rear parking sensors as well as a 360-degree surround-view camera system are incorporated. There is a self-parking system and blind spot detection available. Surprisingly, autonomous emergency braking is not available, nor are additional features like lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assistance.

Some of the standout safety features available with the 2022 Aston Martin DB11 are

  • Blind spot monitor
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • 360-degree camera
  • Auto-park assist
  • Emergency braking light
  • Cruise control

2022 Aston Martin DB11 vs 2022 Bentley Continental GT

The 2022 Bentley Continental GT may have higher power and torque outputs, but because to its overall weight and greater proportions, it has lower performance potential. While the 2022 Aston Martin DB11 is more efficient, the Continental GT holds an edge by averaging a higher combined range, offering better and premium quality materials, and improving functionality with a variety of customizability options.

2022 Aston Martin DB11 vs 2022 McLaren GT

The McLaren GT Coupe is one of the most desirable GT cars but the DB11 holds a more exotic-looking cabin and exterior with much better fuel efficiency. The McLaren also comes with just 2 seats but otherwise is a practical GT with large trunk space. The McLaren is the choice to pick if going fast is your intention but the DB11 has a charm and class of its own.

2022 Aston Martin DB11 vs 2022 Ferrari Roma

Both these cars carry styling that has elegance and manages to hoard crowd wherever it goes. The Roma is equipped with more power but that does not translate to a drastic difference in performance. The Aston Martin is also the affordable choice of the two making it a clear win for the Brit, unless you are looking to have a glance at Italian craftsmanship every day that is clearly showcased on the interior of the Roma.

Final Verdict

The manufacturer deserves praise for incorporating contemporary aesthetic cues into the DB11's design without sacrificing the elegant, effortlessly cool charm that permeates every Aston. Additionally, the inside is premium yet sporty with intricate stitching and leather grain building up the intensity. It not only has tonnes of showroom appeal, but on the road, it can entertain more than its softer opponent. There definitely are more comfortable options available in the market but it is definite that they would lose the charm as years pass by while the Aston Martin DB11 has set itself to be like a fine wine that gets better as it ages. Small rear seats, a dated-looking infotainment interface, and a lack of some driver-assistance technologies are the drawbacks we see with this model.
