Overview

First introduced in 2016, the Aston Martin DB11 was the replacement for the existing DB9. The DB11 is a perfect specimen of British Wonder which sits between your wit and fantasy. The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 is priced at $205,600 for the base trim and also arrives with a sibling namely the Shadow Edition priced at $222,600. This engineering marvel is adored globally for plenty of reasons.

Buying Advice

With two trim options on offer, the 2021 Aston Martin DB11’s base variant is the best bang for the buck. It comes equipped with all the bells and whistles one looks for in the car at the price point and the availability of additional packages like the Technology Plus Interior Pack, which adds more practical features to the top-tier Shadow Edition trim. Moreover, the higher-placed SE trim does not provide any changes to the powertrain for better performance, consequently, spending an additional $20,000 for cosmetic upgrades would not be the best decision.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2021 Aston Martin DB11’s get thrust from a 4L twin-turbo V8 engine which produces a massive 503 horsepower to propel it exquisitely quick. The sleek and provocative fascia, the premium cabin, and the plethora of features that it comes equipped with make anyone drool at the sight of one. The Aston Martin DB11 ranked 17th in the segment in 2020. Let’s find out if it manages to gain ground over its competitors including Bentley Continental GT, Porsche 911 Turbo S and Ferrari Portofino.

Features

The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 comes in a total of two trims. The DB11 V8 happens to be the base and the DB11 Shadow Edition. While the 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S is the most efficient on the block managing a combined efficiency of 21 gallons, it alongside the 2021 Ferrari Portofino lose out to their competitors in terms of the overall range.

Interior
8.9/10

Inside the appealing 2021 Aston Martin DB11 Coupe is the cabin that looks premium, sleek, and well-composed. The materials used are of superior quality and provide a tender feel. The 2021 DB11 can house 4 people and the seats are comfortable, wide, upright, and cushioned. The seats are wrapped in black leather and faux suede upholsteries and it also offers brake color-matched seat stitching for the Shadow Edition and premium leather for the base variant.

The front seats are well placed and provide the driver with a commanding view of the road. It also provides ample head and legroom, while the rear seats are tight and narrow. Other than that, the dashboard looks laid back, functional, and well-composed. At the rear, the car offers 9.5 cubic feet cargo capacity, which is on the lesser side considering the car is a sleek coupe.

Exterior
8.9/10

The Aston Martin DB11 looks expensive and sleek and the 2021 MY exterior, looks more sharp and hostile than the previous year’s model. The side curves are prominent and seductive; the well-designed exterior silhouette makes the car look premium from all aspects. Moreover, the well-curated and low-placed front grille and the oval-shaped LEDs provide a mean look.

The backside features smoked and sleek tail lamps that make it look sophisticated and rare. What contributes more to the vehicle’s beauty is the 20-inch cast aluminum rims, and to be honest it does suit the car. All added up, the combination of all these embellishments makes the coupe stand tall because of its appeal.

The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 is one of the heavier cars in the segment weighing 3,880 lbs and is relatively smaller in all overall dimensions when compared to its competitors. Its ground clearance of 4 inches is the lowest in the segment but does give the coupe a true-blue sports car feel.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S has the smallest wheelbase at 96.5 inches, it is the smallest in terms of dimensions, and is also the lightest vehicle in the segment at 3,528 lbs, while the 2021 Ferrari Portofino lies midway between the Bentley and Porsche in terms of overall dimensions.

2021 Aston Martin DB11 Coupe vs 2021 Bentley Continental GT

The 2021 Bentley Continental GT might be the better option when power and torque outputs are concerned, but its performance capabilities are hindered by its sheer heaviness and larger dimensions. While the 2021 Aston Martin DB11 is a notch efficient, the Continental GT extends its ascendancy by averaging a higher combined range, providing better and premium quality of materials, and improved practicality with a number of customizable options.

2021 Aston Martin DB11 Coupe vs 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S

Porsche remains ahead, with better acceleration and fuel efficiency due to its lightweight and small dimensions. Both cars are distinct in their own manners, the 911 Turbo S performs better in tracks and the DB11 is much more inclined towards touring. Both cars serve different purposes and it is a hard choice between the two.

2021 Aston Martin DB11 Coupe vs 2021 Ferrari Portofino

The 2021 Ferrari Portofino is the most expensive car in this comparison, and just like the 911 Turbo it is more of a track-focused car. On the other hand, the latter is more motivated towards touring. However, for the comparison, the Portofino is not only the most expensive car here but also is ahead in terms of performance.

Final Verdict

The 2021 Aston Martin DB11 is one of the most beautiful and exotic coupes or GTs you can buy for this price. Be it a powerful engine, sleek looks, comfortable and premium cabins, decent fuel economy, the car has it all. However, if you conclude from a rationalistic point of view, you will find the other cars perform better and have a lot more to offer when it comes to features. But, it’s a matter of choice at the end of the day, you may be a fan of James Bond and get wooed by an Aston. If you happen to do so, leave all the facts and figures of the other cars; Go, get one, and feed your soul.
