The Dodge Challenger follows the same old trim structure where it offers two base trims- SXT and GT. It has a base price of $29,295 for the SXT trim while the GT model costs up to $35,295. These prices exclude the destination charge of $1,495. Both RWD and AWD configurations are available in the Challenger. The Challenger offers no new updates or features this year. 

This means that the coupe is available with the same optional packages. If you are a music freak, you can order the 9-speaker Alpine audio system for $1,095. The $1,480 Driver Confidence package adds HID headlamps, power-folding exterior mirrors, locking lug nuts, blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert for the GT trim. Expecting great efficiency from the vehicle that promises to deliver on the power front is too much of an ask. However, the Dodge Challenger does not disappoint. Speaking of the average MPG in the suburbs, the Challenger offers 19, 30 MPG on the highway and 24 MPG combined. These ratings, by any means, aren’t bad at all.

With a fuel tank capacity of 18.5 gallons, the range is shot up to between 388 and 425 miles of combined driving range, depending on the drivetrain chosen. Its large fuel tank helps to offer a better range than its rivals. Overall, the Challenger is less fuel-efficient but it is a decent vehicle when it comes to fuel economy.

The only muscle car that can surpass the Challenger in terms of fuel efficiency is the Ford Mustang, with a combined MPG of 24. However, its small fuel tank results in the least driving range in this competition. The Chevrolet Camaro shares similar fuel estimates with the Challenger. The interior of the Dodge Challenger has a simplified look. The design also looks outdated as it was last updated in the year 2015. The fit and finish are good but the material quality is mediocre. You may feel dismayed with the hard plastics used in this car. When you hop into the front seats, you will feel content with the comfort and support they provide. These seats are suitable for long journeys too.

Speaking of driver's comfort, the driver's seat can be power-adjusted in 6 different ways but the passenger's seat has only 4-way manual adjustments. Once you get to the back, you will find more head and legroom than the Camaro and the Mustang. It features Apple Carplay, Android Auto, and a 6-speaker audio system as standard. You can upgrade to a larger 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C touchscreen system for a much better resolution and visibility. Similarly, a 9-speaker Alpine audio system is also available as an option.

If your priority is trunk volume then you won't be disappointed with the Challenger's offering. A cargo capacity of 16.2 cu-ft. is available which is the largest in this segment. If you don't need your back seat, you can fold these seats to get bigger stuff in your trunk. The trunk opening is wide but the leftover height is high. Some other interior features are:

There aren't any exterior changes made to the Dodge Challenger. It certainly has the most classic muscle car design of the three muscle cars in the market. Upfront, you get a large grille that goes all the way across the entire wide front end. Halogen headlamps are standard while the GT trim also adds projector fog lamps. From the side view, the body seems to blend more curves in and feel more fluid.

The aerodynamics are carried forward and are still great enough to give a great driving experience. With an overall length of nearly 198 inches, the Challenger is the longest car in its class. That does benefit when it comes to space.  It sits on 18-inch alloy wheels but 20 inches are optional. At the back, you get that classic retro design and it looks so cool. Despite being the bulkiest among the lot, the Ford Mustang displays exceptional performance on the road. It's short wheelbase speaks for its cramped rear row. NHTSA gave it a 5-star rating whereas IIHS gave 'Good' ratings in just two crash tests. It also received an 'Acceptable' rating for the roof strength and a 'Marginal' rating for the driver's side test.

However, the Camaro retails at a much lesser price than the Challenger, which may be a deal-breaker for budget-friendly people. 

2022 Dodge Challenger vs 2022 Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang is definitely a better pick among these two. It packs a punchy engine that delivers brisk acceleration and impressive fuel economy. Its handling and ride quality are among the best in the segment. The Challenger's cabin has a mediocre interior quality which is not the case with the Mustang. However, those who prioritize roomy cabins and larger trunk volumes will pick the Challenger.
