Overview

The 2013 Subaru Legacy is a midsize sedan offered in 5 trims, starting off at a base MSRP of $20,295. For that price, it mainly competes with the Honda Accord, the Nissan Altima, and the Toyota Camry. Between 6 trims, the Legacy offers 2 powertrains. The base engine is a 2.5L Flat-4 engine with a choice between a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT. This engine is capable of making 173 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. If more power is required, there is also a 256 horsepower-making 3.6L Flat-6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The Legacy reaches 60 MPH from zero in 8.6 seconds on its base engine, which gets pumped up to 7.1 seconds with the Flat-6 engine. Depending on the powertrain, the Legacy can manage a combined EPA-rated fuel economy between 20 and 27 MPG. While we’re on the topic of choices, the 8 striking colors the Legacy comes in really pull you towards itself.

Buying Advice

The 2013 Legacy can be bought in 5 trim levels and our recommendation is the 2.5i Premium trim level. This trim offers better standard features than the base 2.5i trim along with optional features such as adaptive cruise control, a lane-departure warning system and a collision-warning/mitigation system with brake intervention.
