Overview

Filling in between an extensive range of crossovers and SUV's, Mercedes ups its game with its GLC-Class by offering an AMG variant to focus on performance as well as top-notch comfort, luxury and driving dynamics. With the 2020 Mercedes AMG GLC 63 Coupe, Mercedes returns once again to show why its Silver Arrow insignia has been one of the oldest in the world. With the AMG GLC 63, you'd find the most elite crossover of the GLC class, right below 63 S, which comes fully loaded up with features and stands as a power packed performer.

Buying Advice

If you have a knack for more power, the 63 S is what you need to go for. But since there are no major changes in both the trims, going for the GLC 63 would also be a wise option if only power and performance is not the only aspects you yearn for.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

It comes at a base price of $74,100 and is powered by a 4.0L V8 Bi-turbo engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and comes with Merc's 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. Along the likes of Jaguar F-Pace SVR, Range Rover Sport, and the Maserati Levante, the Mercedes has a stiff competition it needs to rival.

Features
9.0/10

Starting at $74,100, the 2020 Mercedes Benz AMG GLC 63 comes in two configurations, the 63 and 63 S which is priced at $81,800. Both the trims features similar features and powertrain, however the 63 S boasts a more refined powertrain and a couple more power alongside minor changes in performance as compared to the 63.

The luxury crossovers house an extensive list of plush features and advanced safety tech. They also offer incredible driving dynamics partly thanks to the marque’s 4Matic system and come with limited-slip rear differential.

Fuel Economy
5.0/10

Like its previous iteration, sticking by its fuel guzzling philosophy is the powerful and brawny GLC 63 that gives an economy of 16 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway, thus making up an average combined economy of 18 MPG.

Interior
9.0/10

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class uses a plush ride and a lush cabin to captivate crossover crowds—and trumps it all with the AMG card. -thecarconnection

Seating and Comfort

Inside the cabin of the GLC 63, the interior houses lush features as well as comfort that help the driver all through the ride. Its trim and design has luxury abound while built with upmost quality material. It has a headroom of 41.1 inches in the front and 38.3 inches in the back, a shoulder room of 57.3 inches in the front, and 55.8 inches in the back and a spacious leg room of 40.8 inches in the front and 37.2 inches in the back. However due to the sloping roofline of this crossover SUV, headspace is a bit limited.

The 2020 GLC-Class fits a gorgeous cabin in a crisp crossover shape. -thecarconnection

Going into the new iteration and year, nothing much has changed in the GLC 63’s aesthetic over the past couple of years. Being a part of the first generation, the 2020 Mercedes AMG GLC 63 Coupe remains quite identical to its predecessors. It weighs 4500 pound and is 187 inches in length, 76 inches in width and 62.2 inches in height. Off-roading is not this coupe’s forte for it sits just 6.2 inches from the ground.

Competition
8.0/10

2020 Mercedes Benz AMG GLC 63 Coupe vs Jaguar F-Pace SVR

The 2020 Jaguar F-Pace SVR is the topmost performance of the Jaguar’s SUV class. It comes with a supercharged V8 engine which has been well tuned to perform like a hellcat that just got unleashed from the hell. Now on the other hand when we look at the crossover in the 2020 Mercedes AMG GLC 63, it gives a cut throat competition to this Jaguar in all aspects. But what turns the tables is that the F-Pace is way more economic than the GLC 63.

2020 Mercedes Benz AMG GLC 63 Coupe vs Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR

The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR comes from a family of one of the most power-packed heavy duties that has existed in the market for quite some time. The Land Rover has made this Range rover to be a total package that any COUPE can offer. When compared to the GLC 63, it is quite a power-packed performer and has an upper hand in most of the other aspects too. So spending a $10,000 more for a better product seems to be quite a justifiable option.

2020 Mercedes Benz AMG GLC 63 Coupe vs Maserati Levante GTS

The 2020 Maserati Levante GTS makes its debut into the market of midsize power-packed Luxury SUVs this year. Well it’s quick, comfortable and quite updated. But still after looking at what what the GLC provides at a lesser price, the price that you pay for this Levante might not feel so justified. Going for the 63 S seems like a better option here than going for the Levante.

Final Verdict
8.1/10

Having existed in the market for a while now, Mercedes still has the GLC Class’ in its infancy and requires a few miles to go before it perfects its craft and dynamics. There are still some drawbacks that they have to work on with the 2020 AMG GLC 63 such as design change, improving its performance, etc. as the competition has excellent alternatives to the Silver Arrow.
