The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time. The S 63 does surprisingly well and delivers 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Interior
9.9/10

“The sheer number of electronic features in the modern S-Class requires some serious learning by the driver”. – Edmunds

Like its hand-built biturbo powertrain, Mercedes-Benz has left no stones unturned in its quest for extreme opulence. Draped in sumptuous leather, the lavish interior of the S63 sedan exudes luxury and extravagance. Pretty much every component is electrically controlled, double-glazed or net-connected. The 12 way power-adjustable (heated and ventilated) is exceptional with active bolsters and host of massage options.

Rear seats do not come with massage function but offer a high level of comfort. The adjustable lumbar support and active side bolster called the Magic Body Control, which can be set to increase support while cornering to prevent lateral movement. No one will ever complain about the legroom as the designers left pretty dimensions when it comes to personal space.

"With an all-new look for the 2020 model year, and carried into this year, the Mercedes-Benz S Class has re-interpreted its legendary status among luxury sedans, coupes, and limousines. No matter the body type, however, the new S Class exudes an athleticism that enhances its large form and powerful lines"- carconnection

The massive size helps the AMG S 63 to stand apart from the competition. The air-honed bodywork and aggressive front fascia with its 3-pointed star add exclusivity to the S Class Coupe.

Competition
9.0/10

BMW M760 I Sedan

The M760 I is a great car by BMW M division which, akin to the AMG, is the Motorsport division of BMW. It is powered by a massive 6.6-liter turbocharged V12 that produces 601 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. At a significantly lower price, the BMW has presented a daunting contender to the S63 AMG S 63. As typical of any M-car, the M760 inherits the DNA of delivering sheer driving pleasure.

The M760 iis highly practical and fun to kick out the rear end around corners. The comfort features may not rival the plush interior of the Merc, but the price difference can justify the lack thereof. It’s hard to go wrong either way.

Maserati Quattroporte GTS

You want a Ferrari-Derived engine with Italian design at a budget price point than nothing is better than the GTS. Powered a four liter turbocharged V6 the Quattroporte makes 523 bhp and scouts to 60 mph under 5 seconds.

The engine is mated to a ZF source seven-speed automatic transmission. It lacks behind in driving dynamics and luxury when compared to the AMG S 63. The performance is not as lively as the German made a horse. Overall the AMG is the clear winner here.

Porsche Panamera Turbo.

The Porsche Panamera Turbo is a car that offers handling abilities that rivals are yet to match. The Porsche’s interior follows the minimalistic German approach and for some, it might not be luxurious as you would expect from a flagship. But the way all of it has been put together gives you the feeling that this car is meant to last very long.

The Panamera is daily driver thanks to its neat and solidly built cabin, decent ride and manageable dimensions but it can easily turn into a track monster. If luxury is your staple than go with the Merc otherwise people whole loves twisty roads can go with the Panamera.

Final Verdict
8.9/10

Many of you not know, but the V 8 S 63 AMG is faster than the S 65 AMG, yes faster than a V12. The most expensive S class sedan inherits the racing legacy AMG stable and combines it with utmost luxury. The mammoth size has an imposing presence on the streets, yet the car feels agile on corners and fun to drive. The hefty price tag of $169,450 and it has got everything the S-Class stands for, it is hard to argue against it.
