I bought this vehicle in 2021. It’s been in the shop for 3wks now because the engine completely overheated while on I was on the highway. Come to find out I had a coolant leak. The system in the car only warned me once it was too late. I was on the highwayRead More

The dealership took my car for 5 weeks and reprogrammed everything but no one can tell me this will not happen again. That is a safety issue that should not be negotiable. Read More

Lincoln vehicles were always flashy and luxurious while the modern offering from the brand such as the Nautilus stays true to the image. The overall reliability scores of the vehicle have been decent over several model years in the past when it carried the MKX name. The Nautilus might not be a hot-seller unlike some of its rivals yet, the total complaints it has faced account for a small fraction of the total vehicles plying on road. The NHTSA has recorded a total of 42 complaints and 4 recalls for the 2019 Nautilus. The luxury SUV takes on some well-established rivals in the segment such as the Volvo XC60, the Audi Q5, and the Cadillac XT5 with a base price tag of $40,340.

Lincoln Nautilus user complaints and problems

Electrical problems

  • Instrument panel going blank: Several owners reported this problem in their vehicles. The issue was that upon starting up the vehicle, the instrument panel went blank completely and stayed that way for the entire driving time. In some cases, after driving for some time and shutting down the vehicle, the problem appeared when the vehicle was restarted.
  • Battery dying: A couple of owners faced this problem with their 2019 Nautilus. In both cases, the battery drained completely leaving the vehicle stranded. In one instance, the battery drained after the vehicle was parked overnight.

Safety problems

  • Forward collision avoidance system malfunction: One owner faced an issue with the forward collision avoidance system of his Nautilus. He reported that while driving, a shadow of a dump truck led to the activation of the system and applying the brakes suddenly in the middle of a highway.

Engine problems

  • Abnormal noises from transmission: The transmission of a few 2019 Nautilus models was troublesome for their owners. The reports stated that while driving, there were abnormal noises such as grinding and metallic clunking from the transmission. In some cases, the transmission slotted to neutral suddenly and without any warnings.

Should you buy a used Lincoln Nautilus?

The Lincoln Nautilus is surely an appealing vehicle that is quite nice to look at too. The underpowered base engine, dull handling, and a clumsy infotainment system hold it back from reaching on top of its segment. Furthermore, a few rivals of the nautilus has better-predicted reliability too. But the Nautilus isn’t entirely bad either. However, going for a used example for the nautilus isn’t possible yet since it was renamed and redesigned for the current model year only. Its preceding model, the MKX, also offers a great value for money and has a decent reliability department too. Picking up a used example would be mostly trouble-free.
