Overview

The 2012 Lincoln MKX SUV is a proud member of the midsize SUV segment, locking horns with cars like the Lexus RX 350 SUV, the Infiniti FX35 SUV, and the Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV. With standalone trim, the MKX starts off at a base price of MSRP of $39,545. Its 3.7L V6 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters give the SUV 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. With that, it manages a 0-60 of 7.3 seconds and boasts a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. Moving to fuel economy, the MKX manages to get a combined EPA rating of 22 MPG, an above-average number for the class, giving it an edge. It also has a ground clearance of 7.9 inches.

Buying Advice

For $1,850, all-wheel drive is also given but with this system, the combined fuel economy drops by 3 MPG. That said, our favorite pick is the Premium package which adds a backup camera, heated rear seats, a power tilt/telescoping steering column with memory, and more for $2,850. Meanwhile, the $6,535 Elite package is also offered which includes all contents of the previous package plus voice-controlled navigation, a surround-sound sound system, a panoramic roof with dual power sunshades, and more.
