Land Rover has long stood out for its rugged off-road vehicles. The English manufacturer puts an equal emphasis on high luxury and performance standards. The Range Rover Velar projects the same roots and adapts well to driver requirements. This makes the SUV a versatile choice for a daily driver as well as a tourer. The SUV assures durability with a record of 2 recalls and 4 complaints registered for 2020.

However, the 2020 Velar comes across problems varying from oil leakage to stalling. The Land Rover aftersales respond well to resolve these issues and customer complaints. The SUV competes with the sporty Jaguar F-Pace and the Porsche Macan in the luxury SUV segment. The "Trending Review" channel on youtube describes the issues commonly faced by the owners in the video below.

User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical Problems

  • Oil leakage: Instances of oil leakage are a common occurrence with the Velar. Oil leakage possesses a threat to other motorists. This increases the chances of a crash.

Electrical Problems

  • Wiring harness: Electrical faults are common with the 2020 Velar. Users report cases of infotainment system glitches and blackouts. Few complaints also report driver aid malfunctions. As per claims, wiring harness defects are the cause of these issues. This increases the chances of a vehicle fire and hence increases the risk of an injury.
  • Engine: Engine stalling is a known problem to RR Velar users. Under driving conditions, engine stalling can result in a drastic loss of speed. This is due to a loss in drive power. This abrupt drop in speed increases the chances of a crash.
  • Instrumentation cluster: Instrumentation cluster malfunctions are common to Range Rover Velar. Users report intermittent flashing of vehicle warning lights and loss of driver aids. This can distract the driver and increase the chances of crashing.
  • Headlights: The SUV headlights when operated with high beams reduce visibility for oncoming vehicles. This increases the risk of crashing.
  • Driver aids: Range Rover Velar users report cases of the car display blacking out. This is further followed by loss of driver aids and warnings. Loss of driver aids under driving conditions increases the chances of crashing. This compromises the safety of the occupants and the vehicle.

Safety Problems

  • Airbags: The SUV is prone to airbag deployment malfunction. This increases the chances of injury and compromises user safety.
  • Seatbelts: Users report seatbelt auto retractor malfunction. This results in tightening of the seatbelt beyond a permissible limit. Retractor malfunction can result in occupant injuries. This can be a fatal risk in case of an emergency.

The Range Rover Velar is a good choice of a luxurious SUV that also offers something for the enthusiast. The terrain adaptability and comfort make the SUV a versatile drive. This suits both city commuting and long-distance touring. Land Rover emphasizes durability and reliability. The Velar affirms this with the NHTSA record of 2 recalls and 4 complaints registered for the 2020 model year. However, the few issues with the SUV range from oil leakage to engine stalling. The 2020 Velar does not come across any major issues and offers a value for money experience. Citing this, the SUV gets the CarHp go-ahead.
