2022 Land Rover Range Rover Velar User Complaints and Problems
For a segment that registers considerable sales volumes, the Land Rover Range Rover Velar’s problems list seems restricted. Since its introduction in 2018, the SUV has registered 27 complaints, which puts it in an almost idealistic position. Even on the unofficial forums, there are no unique complaints made by the owners. So, the Range Rover Velar issues are neither concerning nor widespread. Listed below are the most common problems in the Velar SUV as listed on the NHTSA website and their implications on the ownership experience.
Mechanical Complaints
- Vehicle loses power: Across all iterations, buyers of the RR Velar have reported the vehicle to lose its motive power without any prior symptoms. Complainants have recorded the vehicle to continuously lose speed, before coming to a complete halt. As a result, the vehicle remains at the risk of a crash, and consequently, also increases the chance of an injury to the passengers.
- Vehicle rolls away: Yet another common mechanical problem of the Velar SUV relates to its transmission unit. When put into Park mode, the vehicle fails to recognize the existing gear, and as a result, has rolled away in a couple of cases. While no injury has been reported from the malfunction, buyers have reported the vehicle to get damaged upon impact, which makes it an issue that Land Rover should deal with at the earliest.
- Shuddering of the vehicle: Unlike the Range Rover Evoque, the Velar’s suspension fault is not as concerning. Rather, it arises due to the wear and tears in the normal course of the vehicle’s operation. Buyers have reported the vehicle to vibrate excessively while in motion, which results in bouncy ride quality. While it might seem worrisome, a scheduled maintenance service can easily resolve the issue.
Electric System Complaints
- Infotainment system malfunction: The Velar infotainment problems have been registered in considerable numbers over the past few years. Buyers have reported several concerns including loss of Bluetooth connection, lagging display screens, and the inability to manage climate control options. Additionally, in a couple of cases, some complainants have also reported the dual-screen units to lose power. However, they resume normal functionality after a short time.
Interior Complaints
- Fogged windshield and windows: During winters or in cold conditions, buyers of the LR RR Velar have reported the windows and other glass panes to fog, affecting visibility. While it is readily available, even the defogger functionality fails to help reduce the fogging on the screens. As a result, the chance of crash increases, due to hindered outward visibility.
The 2022 Range Rover Velar has no complaints to its name as of the date we write this article. But, even if the status was to remain the same, we would not be surprised. The Velar name tag has never had a large number of complaints and even in the outgoing iteration, the SUV had just one complaint. Compared to it, SUVs from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche also deliver a similar level of performance, and record 3, 1, and 0 complaints, respectively in their 2022 iterations.
