Overview

The 2013 Kia Rio makes for an excellent contender in the subcompact sedan class. With 3 trims on offer, the Kia Rio has a base MSRP of $13,600, with prices going all the way up to MSRP $17,700, competing directly with the Ford Fiesta, the Hyundai Accent, and the Chevrolet Sonic. Only a 1.6L inline-4 engine is offered, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The base LX trim is also available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Together, they produce 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque. Accelerating from 0-60 in 9.4 seconds, the Rio maintains a combined fuel economy of 32 MPG. Kia offers the Rio in 8 stunning colors, with the Signal Red being a particular favorite of ours.

Buying Advice

When it comes to offering comfortable commuting and everyday practicality, the mid-level EX trim checks all the boxes perfectly. It includes features like upgraded cloth upholstery, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a six-speaker sound system, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and a sliding front armrest just for an additional $2000 from the base trim. It also adds a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard which is an option in the base LX trim.
