Overview

Competing in the compact SUV class, the 2013 Jeep Patriot SUV goes up against other notable names in the class, like the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, the Mazda CX-5, and the Hyundai Tucson. Spread across 3 trims, the Patriot starts off at a base price of MSRP $15,995 and carries on to $25,695. However, not all trims are built equal, as there are 2 powertrains on offer. The standard engine is a 2.0L inline-4 engine rated for 158 horsepower and 141 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the Patriot gives you a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. An optional 2.4L inline-4 engine, with an output of 172 horsepower. A 5-speed manual transmission is offered alongside both engines with a continuously variable transmission offered as an option.

Buying Advice

On the features front, the base trim is quite bare bones, while the mid-level Latitude trim adds some significant and comfort features. However, both these trims share the same underwhelming 2.0L inline-4 engine. For a price bump of $2,000 from the mid-trim, the top-tier Limited trim adds a more powerful 2.4L inline-4 engine and some standout features such as upgraded exterior trim, automatic climate control, rear disc brakes, and a six-way power driver seat, leather upholstery and some more.

Enough space for friends, shopping or camping gear

Pros - ["Great gas mileage", "Low maintenance", "Very roomy"]

Cons - ["Doesn't drive too fast", "Nothing else", "Nothing else"]

This car has been a lifesaver on gas, groceries, my kids sports equipment and road trips. I can drive with peace of mind knowing absolutely nothing has gone wrong with my car because I keep up with the maintenance and drive it and baby it...low mileage and never go above 65...very seldom 70.

Pros - ["Lots of space", "Gas mileage", "Low maintenance"]

Cons - ["More specific on the type of fluids", "Could have more cup holders", "Also should have 3 rows"]

This car is spacious and has awd with just a touch of a button. My experience so far been amazing it's good on gas an not to expensive to fill the tank. Love the sun roof and the tablet for a stereo love it
