It is generally considered that the Japanese brands majorly cater to the reliable car segment and give lesser importance to premium build and quality but that hasn’t been the case with the Infiniti QX60 as this SUV comes loaded to the brim with premium materials and features. In fact, the 2019 Infiniti QX60 is one of the most premium-feeling vehicles in its segment and is basically an upscale version of its Japanese cousin and rival, the Nissan Pathfinder. The other cars that are up against the QX60 are the Acura MDX, and the Lexus RX 350. With just 2 recalls and 11 registered complaints on NHTSA, it’s safe to say that this is a reliable car.
User complaints and problems
Electrical Problems
- Reverse camera – The reverse camera alarm fails to work at times which means the drivers will not be alerted when there are obstacles behind the car that isn’t visible in the rear-view camera. This increases the chance of a collision.
- Forward collision sensor – The sensor seems to engage itself which engages the brakes even when there aren’t any vehicles ahead and this leads to a probable crash by getting rear-ended by other vehicles.
Mechanical Problems
- Engine – The engine and the collision sensor lights turn on and lead the car to a stall without any mechanical struggle while driving. This requires the owners to put the car in park and restart the car to drive again. The dealers weren’t able to identify the issue and claimed the car to be normal.
- Transmission – Owners noticed a knocking sound when driving and after a certain time, the noise gets louder and ultimately leading the car to shudder vigorously. The dealers inspected the car and found that the transmission had issues.
Safety Problems
- Brakes – · When driving at a low speed, the brakes were found to not respond even after flooring the pedal leading the car to a crash with the occupant suffering a bleeding nose and a knee injury. Few users also complained that they had to pump the brake pedal a few times before it could actually work and stop the car.

Should you buy the 2019 Infiniti QX60?
The 2019 Infiniti QX60 just isn’t any entry-level luxury SUV but one of the best in terms of reliability and build quality. The Infiniti manages to stack up well against its rivals and is evident that it’s a better package as it maintains a good balance between reliability and quality. Starting price of just over $43,000 doesn’t mean the Infiniti is an affordable deal but it sure doesn’t break the bank considering it’s a luxury SUV that undercuts the German pricing by a large margin. We highly recommend the QX60 if you’re looking to buy a premium SUV with equal practicality and spend very less time with the mechanics.
