Overview

The 2018 Infiniti QX60 comes with significant modifications to its exterior design and all its specifications are close to that of its parent company's Nissan Pathfinder. Available in two trim offerings with the only difference being the drivetrain, the price varies from $43,300-$45,100. It hosts a 3.5L 6-cylinder engine that churns out 295 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, this powerhead gives it the ability to tow as much as 5000 lbs. and go from 0-60mph in 7.6 seconds.

With an impressive gas mileage to offer, the Infiniti also gets a spacious cabin, providing for the passengers and cargo room. With equally impressive exteriors on offer, the 2018 Infiniti QX60 gets a tough rivalry from the 2018 Lexus RX 350, the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder, and the 2018 Acura MDX.

Buying Advice

Go with the front-wheel-drive variant if you do not drive in muddy or snowy condition. Premium and Premium Plus package would be commendable additions. You can skip the costly Deluxe Technology package as you would get most of its useful features in the much cheaper Driver Assistance Package.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

Offered in just two trims with the difference of a drivetrain, the 2018 Infiniti QX60 gets a single powertrain that generates 295 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque. Priced at $43,300 for the base model, FWD, and at a price of $45,100 for the AWD, the price difference of $1,800 is solely towards a change in the drivetrain.

The single-engine offering is a 3.5L 6-cylinder engine that makes the vehicle capable of towing 5000 pounds. With a fuel economy that is almost equal to the best-in-class offering and an extremely spacious interior cabin to offer, for both, the passenger and cargo, the 2018 Infiniti QX60 makes a practical and comfortable option. It also gets a fine exterior design with good dimensions that adds to this package.

Features
8.0/10

"It has a roomy cabin, good safety scores, and a peppy V6 engine, but a subpar predicted reliability rating keeps this SUV from ranking higher." - Cars.USnews

The 2018 Infiniti QX60 is offered in two trims for their drivetrains, and AWD priced at $45,100, and an FWD priced at $43,300. Both these trims feature a 3.5L 6-cylinder engine, generating 295 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. There are literally no other changes between these two trims other than the drivetrain. So, the price difference of $1800 is solely for moving from a forward-wheel drive to an all-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy
6.0/10

"The EPA rates the QX60 at 19/26/22 mpg city/highway/combined." - Motortrend

Up until this model year, the Infiniti QX60 offered a hybrid engine; however, it is now discontinued and offers only a single powertrain, a 3.5L V6 engine. This modest engine returns a fuel economy of 20/27/22 for its city, Highway, and combined reading.

Models 2018 Infiniti QX60 2018 Acura MDX 2018 Lexus RX 350 2018 Nissan Pathfinder
MPG (city) 20 19 20 20
MPG (highway) 27 27 27 27
MPG (combined) 22 22 23 23

In competition, the 2018 Lexus RX 350 and the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder offer the best mileage, a tad bit better than the Infiniti QX60. They offer a gas mileage of 22 miles to a gallon for city drives, 27 miles to a gallon for Highway cruises, and 23 miles to a gallon as its combined reading. The Infiniti ranks third, followed by the 2018 Acura MDX in the fourth position.

Interior
8.0/10

“… Infiniti’s 2018 QX60 luxury SUV stands out because its plush, leather-lined cabin is comfortable in all seven spots. The third row is surprisingly accommodating for two adults and, thanks to a second row that slides fore and aft, getting there is easy. Infiniti makes the interior even more pleasing with ample soft-touch materials, and by using laminated glass to make the interior quieter.” Kelley Blue Book

Seating and Comfort of the 2018 Infiniti QX60

The interiors of the 2018 Infiniti QX60 are a comfy space to be in. The seats feel like average one's and come equipped with several adjustable features. They aren't the softest available but are comforting nonetheless, they are spacious too, at least the first two rows are. On the other hand, the seats have a couple of drawbacks as well. The headrests on the second row obstruct the rearview. The interior of the Infiniti QX60 further offers the following features for the seating:

  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated front seats
  • Eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • Six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat
  • Heated second-row outboard seats (Optional)
  • Climate-controlled front seats (Optional)
  • Heated steering wheel (Optional)

In comparison with its competition, the Infiniti QX60 offers the second most spacious interiors, after the Nissan Pathfinder. The 2018 Lexus RX 350 ranks in 3rd position with slightly smaller dimensions for its passenger room inside the cabin. Ranking in the last position we have the 2018 Acura MDX, with interior dimensions smaller than that of the Lexus RX 350.

Infotainment of the 2018 Infiniti QX60

The touchscreen infotainment system is user-friendly and easily navigable. Some of the control knobs are high on the dash and require extra effort to reach. Limited smartphone integration is a big letdown as there is no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Standard feature includes:

  • An eight-inch display
  • Bluetooth
  • USB ports in all three rows
  • HD Radio

Cargo Space of the 2018 Infiniti QX60

The 2018 Infiniti QX60 offers a standard cargo space of 15.9 cubic feet. Do keep in mind that this room is offered behind the three rows of seating it already offers. With the third row folded down, the occupants can access a cargo room of 40.5 cubic feet. Further, the occupants could choose to fold down even the second row of seats and get access to a maximum cargo room that measures 76.2 cubic feet.

In comparison with the competition, the offering of the 2018 Infiniti QX60 is one of the best in class. With cargo room dimensions that are slightly less than the Nissan Pathfinder, the Infiniti ranks in the second position. The 2018 Acura MDX ranks third with the maximum cargo volume of 68.4 cubic feet, while the Lexus which offers the largest standard cargo space in class fails to deliver in terms of maximum cargo room capacity.

Safety offering of the 2018 Infiniti QX60

In order to learn about the safety offering of the 2018 Infiniti QX60, we decided to look into the NHTSA reports, and we found that it gets a fine five-star rating, in its overall score. However, there are two aspects where the five-star rating mark is dropped to a 4-star rating. In the aspect of frontal crash and rollover. 2018 Infiniti QX60 Vs 2018 Acura MDX

With a power output difference of 5hp, the Acura MDX falls short despite having an engine displacement of the same measure. However, it has a better acceleration performance to offer, the best in class in fact. The Infiniti QX60 has a record for the braking distance and the Acura lags just by one foot for the same.  These two vehicles also record an extremely close gas mileage with the Infiniti QX60 having a slight lead. The Infiniti goes ahead to offer a fine interior, way more spacious than the Acura, in terms of passenger space as well as cargo space.

2018 Infiniti QX60 Vs 2018 Nissan Pathfinder

The 2018 Nissan Pathfinder has stats on the chart that are indeed similar to that of Infiniti. This could possibly be because of the fact that Nissan owns the Infiniti. The Nissan records a lower power and torque output, a lower acceleration performance, but a better towing capacity to its name. With an extremely similar gas mileage to offer, the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder gets a  lower price tag than the Infiniti QX60. Both the cars offer spacious seating and a very spacious room for their cargo offerings. Even the exteriors of both these machines are largely similar.

2018 Infiniti QX60 Vs 2018 Lexus RX 350

With an identical price tag, they both offer almost the exact power output. However, the Lexus RX 350 has a better acceleration output, while the Infiniti offers the best in class brake performance. While the Lexus has a similar fuel efficiency compared to the Infiniti, the latter gets a better interior and cargo space offering. With a better exterior on offer, we would recommend you for the Infiniti QX60.

Final Verdict

The 2018 Infiniti QX60 offers a 3.5L V6 engine with best-in-class power output and torque generation. It isn't the best in terms of acceleration but does offer some fine numbers on the chart. On the other hand, it has the best in class brake performance with a fine fuel economy. Offering the largest interiors in class and an adequate cargo room adds to the convenience the QX60 offers. Further, it comes with the ability to tow 5000 lbs and is amongst the best offering for the same. With some really good exterior dimensions and a 5 star rated safety offering the 2018 Infiniti QX60 is an amazing package to go in for.
