... I’ve regretted it since. First, all these loose trim pieces and lack of quality. 2 years old and already lots of rust. I thought loose trim pieces would be covered by warranty but dealership refused to fix and told me I need to go back to dealership I bought it from which is far away. I bought oil change and tire rotation. With Lexus, they would include changing tires from winter to summer if you hadRead More

The Infiniti QX60 offers something more than most luxury midsize SUVs do not offer, and quite honestly, the SUV is impressive in terms of comfortability, quality, and the driving experience. The V6 gives quite the performance and does not disappoint. The SUV is more like a family minivan, with conventional doors and easy-to-access third-row seats that make it easier to ride on. But the SUV is not the most perfect out there. It has few reliability issues in the mechanical department. Officially, the vehicle is given 5 out of 5 stars in safety ratings, but the SUV had 1 recall and 16 complaints with no investigation. The competitors are the Volvo XC90, the Range Rover Velar, and the BMW X6. Looking at the competitors themselves does make the QX60 question why the SUV is special and what makes it superior.

2018 Infiniti QX60 SUV User Problems and Complaints

Mechanical problems

  • Engine reliability: One user was frustrated with the engine failing while driving. It refused to start no matter what. When taken for repair, they told the user that it was 13,000 dollars and the user claimed it was the manufacturer's fault and the user had taken regular maintenance.
  • Powertrain issue: One user had noticed that the SUV had transmission and steering issues. The dealership told the user and the manufacturer that this was a defective SUV, and the manufacturer refused to acknowledge this and left it ignored. Another user claimed the transmission was stuttering and had to replace the transmission control valve.
  • Brake failure: Two users received recalls for the QX60 regarding the brakes. One user had noticed the brakes were making noises and no repair was done.

Electrical problems

  • Electrical system failure: One user was almost in an accident as the electrical system failed including the ABS sensor and the brakes too had failed.

Safety problems

  • Seat issues: 2 users faced a problem where the seat of the SUV was loose and the SUV was making rattling noises.
  • Seat belt unsecured: 1 user noticed while operating the SUV, that the seat belt of the front passenger unlocked automatically. The dealer was notified of this issue.
  • Visibility/structure: 2 users had almost the same problem, one was where the sunroof shattered and the other was where it exploded.

Brake fluid can leak into the ABS pump and ignite

The ABS actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal circuit board

Nissan will notify owners and the dealers will replace the ABS actuator for free of charge, and a second notification will be given when the parts for the recall is available

Should you buy the 2018 Infiniti QX60 SUV,

Yes, so far the SUV seems to suit well for comfort and space, especially for a family. The Infiniti QX60 has an overall reliability rating of 3.5 out of 5, officially, which is not too bad for an average-priced SUV. Although the maintenance can be more expensive than most SUVs. The plush ride quality makes the long trips more enjoyable and the easily accessible third-row seat is the strong suit of the 2018 QX60. The cargo space depends on how many people are on board, it has a decent amount of storage for carrying small items. However, the 2018 Volvo XC90 is also a good choice. It costs more, especially the high-end trims, but if you are someone who has a family and emphasizes a little bit more on safety the XC90 is an alternative.
