Overview

As it is commonly stated that one can’t have all the happiness but one can certainly wish for that. The Infiniti Q60 with its heterogeneity and looks maybe a prompt one to support the claim. The high-definition styling with an exemplary powertrain prowess seems to be tempting machinery whose face value begins at $41,750. On top of that, some new changes have been brought at trim levels as well, hence extending its wingspan altogether.

Buying Advice

The Luxe trim with rear-wheel drive will be value-investing in many senses. With some extra $9,000 one can get a package of advanced safety features like the Blind-Spot Monitoring and Forward Emergency Braking that is lacking in the Pure trim. Moreover, it will have a decent power curve as well which will be enough to keep you thrilled. One may get an AWD with extra 2000 bucks but that rarely makes an impact except for a little grip.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The Infiniti Q60 has to go straight against the BMW 4 Series 430i, Lexus RC 350, and the Audi S5 for its market share. The Q60 is available in three major trims that have either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This luxurious 2-door coupe does have some real deal in its aerodynamics as well that make it worth a narration.

Features
5.0/10

The Infiniti Q60 has three basic trims namely Pure, Luxe, and Red Sport which are quite distinct from one other, especially the Red Sport. Though the Pure trim is powered by the same powertrain configuration with the same transmission attached, it lacks the safety features, unlike the Luxe. The Red Sport trim gets a more powerful powertrain but at a relatively much higher price surge. In addition to that, the power-heating front seats begin from the Luxe trim.

As per the data, the Luxe trim gets a 13-speakers Bose Performance Audio which is simply class apart. If one is more performance-oriented then he/she can claim the Summer Performance Tires that will give superior grip and will go well along with the Dynamic Digital Suspension unit in the Red Sport. Apart from that, the smart device integration along with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes as a standard across all the trim.

Which Trim should you buy in the 2021 Infiniti Q60 Coupe?

The Luxe trim with rear-wheel drive will be value-investing in many senses. With some extra $9,000 one can get a package of advanced safety features like the Blind-Spot Monitoring and Forward Emergency Braking that is lacking in the Pure trim. Moreover, it will have a decent power curve as well which will be enough to keep you thrilled. One may get an AWD with extra 2000 bucks but that rarely makes an impact except for a little grip.

Engine and Performance
7.0/10

The Infiniti Q60 gets a 3.0L Twin-Turbo V6 that is capable of producing a power of 300 hp @ 6400 rpm and a torque of 295 lb-ft @ 1600 rpm. It is further assisted by the 7-speed shiftable automatic in either a rear-wheel or an all-wheel drive. The acceleration is pretty impressive with 5.4 seconds on the clock for the 0-60 mph mark and 13.9 seconds for a quarter-mile. Its huge weight is compensated by the twin-turbo that reduces the turbo-lag and increases the resultant volumetric efficiency.

If one has to gauge this domain, then the Lexus RC 350 is a superior breed with dominating figures in both the 0-60 mph and quarter-mile. The Q60 is not way behind it and needs a little up-gradation and weight cut to match up with its prowess. The other rivals are comparable to the Q60 in terms of their top speeds. And the last but not the least that needs a special mention is the low-end torque that 430i gets without at the expense of its fuel economy is pretty impressive.

How well does the 2021 Infiniti Q60 Coupe handle?

A coupe with a low height is inherently stable around the corners, thanks to its lower center of gravity, unlike the SUVs or pick-up trucks. But is simply not justified to keep up on the track at high speed. To further extend the advantage, the Q60 gets an Electric-Power Assist Steering that lowers your effort and a set of independent suspensions at all the wheels.

The other active systems like the traction control system that avoids the wheel slippage and the electronic stability control can get you well around the tough curves. Moreover, the front and rear stabilizers are the enhancements in the whole setup to manage the rollover and toppling. Therefore, there is no much hassle as far as handling is concerned.

2021 Infiniti Q60 Coupe Braking Performance

The performance column is incomplete without the braking efficiency. What’s the logic to have a top-dog speed but incapable to command it. This becomes a further necessity with a heavyweight lifter like the Q60 itself. The vented disc rotors of 12.6” and 12.1” in the front and the rear have been attached to the wheel with maximum heat-dissipation possible. Further adding to that is the Anti-Lock Braking System and Emergency Brake Assist that can guarantee a minimum braking distance.

Unfortunately, the braking distance for the Q60 is not available but the braking system seems to be sufficient for its forwarding weight transfer. But the rotors have been kept smaller compared to their counterparts like the Lexus RC 350 and the Audi S5. Among all, the BMW 430i seems to be a little disappointing with an underwhelming 162 ft of braking distance and thus makes it unfit for high-speed highways.

Fuel Economy
4.0/10

It is very rare that one can get both performance and economy at the same time. But one can expect that rarity in the Q60. It is exemplary with its performance but also offers a decent mileage considering its top speed of 155 mph. The huge fuel tank capacity keeps a check on your minimal refueling with a range touching as much as 560 miles. The 22 mpg on average with automatic transmission makes it an easy city dweller yet retaining its devilish instinct. The probable reason can be its ideal power-torque distribution across the rev band.

The BMW 430i and Audi S5 overwhelm the likeness of the Q60 and RC 350 with a significant gap of around 7 mpg. This allows them to have a relatively smaller fuel tank for a higher range. The stains in the mileage govern us that the undesirable weight is doing more harm than gains for the Q60. Therefore, for the upcoming model, if mechanical upgrades can be brought in that can deal with this, then it might be a make-deal for the Q60.

Interior
4.0/10

With no hesitation, there will be an acceptance in the claim that the Infiniti Q60 offers an enriched interior. But enriched does not mean something new. The interior for most of the part remains unchanged this year. But on the brighter side, one gets Stone-Leatherette and Graphite-Leatherette accents to choose from.

The Infiniti Radiant Ambient LIghting is one to relish along with standard power-heating in the Luxe and the Red Sport. The level of sophistication goes beyond the Semi-Aniline Leather-trimmed seating in the Red Sport trim. Advanced Climate Control System is offered as well as an option in the higher trims.

Space management is definitely a downside of the Q60. The roofline gets you to compromise with headroom and the second row is evidently cramped which will be a haunting place for a tall guy. It does seem to be disappointing with its available trunk size when compared to its counterparts. The HIghlights in this segment are:

  • Brushed Aluminum trim
  • Dual-occupant memory system
  • Aluminum-accented sport pedals

What’s there to keep you entertained in the 2021 Infiniti Q60 Coupe?

The Infiniti Q60 Coupe has a blend of old and new technologies. The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the Smart Device Integration have been kept constant. The Pure gets a 6-speaker Audio and the other higher trims get 13-speaker Bose Performance Audio integrated into them. SiriusXM Radio with a 3-month trial and Audio Streaming via Bluetooth comes as a standard across all the trims.

Along with the aforementioned features, there are other tech-ends that are offered as standard across all trims which include the HD radio, Radio Data System, and the CD player with MP3 playback capability. Some of the units offer in it are:

  • SiriusXM Radio
  • WVGA color display
  • AudioPilot 2.0 Noise
  • Advanced Staging Technology

Exterior
8.0/10

One of the X-factors in the Infiniti Q60 is its looks and appearance. The aggression on the front facia with sleek Automatic on/off LED headlights is simply jaw-dropping. Furthermore, it gets UV-reducing solar glass across all trims. Dual chrome exhaust finishers make up the rear for the Pure and Luxe trims. The Luxe and the Red Sport have a moonroof with a one-touch auto-open/close, tilt feature. The overall silhouette is streamlined and aerodynamic. Therefore, the Q60 is not just impressive but functional in its appearance.

The dimensions are also an integral prospect to improve the dynamics and handling of the cars. The coupe allows one to have a channeled silhouette that impedes the air turbulence at the rear. As far as comparison is concerned, all the aforementioned are somewhat close to one another in their design approach and hence nothing substantial can be pointed in terms of their supremacy over others. Some of the features are:

  • Remote power-opening of windows using INFINITI Intelligent Key
  • High Beam Assist
  • Power heated outside mirrors
  • Comprehensive airflow management

Safety
9.0/10

Safety counts no matter what. A stain in this department can get your sales to experience a negative upheaval. Since the NHTSA and IIHS have not yet tested the all-new Infiniti Q60, therefore coming to a conclusion would be immature. But in the past, it has performed well and was reckoned with the “Top Safety Pick” award by the IIHS. So, one can hope that it will have structural integrity this year as well.

The Pure trim does sound as boastful as other trims and lacks that touch. Moving to the Luxe and Red Sport, one will be satisfied with the safety package as it has advanced features like the Blind-Spot Monitoring, Forward Collision Mitigation, Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control, and many more with the standard features. The Zone Body construction along with these intact make the higher trims a real stand out among all. The safety features are:

  • Forward Collision Mitigation
  • Advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control
  • Blind-Spot Monitoring
  • Zone Body construction

Competition
7.0/10

2021 Infiniti Q60 Coupevs. Audi S5

The Q60 and the Audi A5 have their specific realms of supremacy. The Q60 is more powerful but the A5 edges over it with its practicality in terms of its spaciousness and fuel economy. The daily commuting purpose makes the Audi A5 a better option than the Q60. Comparatively, it is compact also which helps it in its handling dynamics.

2021 Infiniti Q60 Coupe vs. 2021 BMW 4 Series 430i

Parallel in their performance curves, the BMW 430i and Infiniti Q60 can quench your thirst for a thrill but the 430i gets better of the former with its fuel economy at competitive pricing. Moreover, it is more evenly distributed in its space management than the Q60. The BMW 430i is also one of the top consumer-rated vehicles in the segment in the J.D.Power rating.

2021 Infiniti Q60 Coupe vs. 2021 Lexus RC 350

The two can be called siblings for their same mileage but the Lexus RC 350 takes a lead with better performance. Moreover, one can rely on it for its braking prowess. It is even lighter and is constrained within a compact boundary limit which makes it responsive in its handling as well.

Final Verdict
7.8/10

If one intends to question if it is the best, then the reply would be a negative one. But if one gets more specific about if it can be bought in the first place, then the response would be subtle. The higher trim like Luxe would make up for the practicality and the top-dog Red Sport will satiate your hunger for sportiness. The Pure trim can be overlooked without giving any effort. But the Q60 still needs much more to close the wide gap with competitors like the BMW 430i.
