Overview

A smart truck trailing the segment-leading payload and towing capacity. Yes, it is none other than the Ford F-250 SuperDuty. Climbing with the trim levels, the fun and joy elevate when driving the vehicle. With the wretched engine output, the cab runs snappy than some of its neck contenders. Heavy-duty trucks from the Ram in some cases make the SuperDuty uncomfortable delivering a stagnant value. Standard 8-inch infotainment touchscreen helps businesses keep track of their trucks. Additionally, the Super Duty offers an industry-first "tailgate down" backup camera and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot. A megabuck of new tech includes a blind-spot monitoring system.

Buying Advice

CARHP recommends going for the XLT trim. It offers a better value option than the XL. Power-operated windows, power tailgate, automatic high beam headlights, chrome bumper, chrome grille, two USB ports, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Advanced driver aids include – blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and forward collision mitigation by default.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

For 2023, the F-250 SuperDuty, gains a deep overhaul. It is now equipped with entirely new exterior and interior styling, new tech, and new powertrain options to flex with confidence in the dense cab market. The regular cab gets revised powertrains. Under the hood, the 7.3L V8 engine gains refinement for air intakes and tuning. The all-new 6.7L Powerstroke diesel engine might bring the highest power in the segment. New external design toning match with Ford F-150, and the Maverick. It includes brand-new C-shaped signature lights and functional side vents. Shoppers would impress with the reinvented dashboard inside the cabin with the largest 12-inch infotainment touchscreen on the election. Standard four-wheel drive (4WD) on XLT. It competes against the GMC Sierra 2500HD Regular Cab, the Ram 2500 Regular Cab, and the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Regular Cab.

Engine and Performance
8.0/10

Powered by a single 6.2L unleaded V8 engine, the cab used to make 385 horsepower and 430-pound feet of torque. It was engaged with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The newest generation ties the knot with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It now carries an all-wheel drive drivetrain by default. With the refined engine, Ford only teased it to bring “impressive” output but has not released actual power and torque numbers. The regular cab takes 7.5 seconds to meet the 0-60 mph mark.

Ram 2500 is the most expensive regular cab on sale. It is also the most powerful truck available in the market. The most affordable regular cab is the Chevy Silverado 2500HD, which brings identical horsepower and torque numbers to the GMC 2500 HD. The SuperDuty brings might brings this year an impressive powertrain, but while writing this, it suffers with the lowest power output in the segment. It is a regular cab with an all-wheel drive system by default.

2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty Ride and Handling

Ride quality is not out of the world, but one can feel the transformation in acceleration when choosing the optional diesel engine. The steering wheel is interactive and its feedback mainly relies on the chosen trim. The 10-speed transmission shifts are improved with the latest generation technology, still, without upgrades, the shits are firmer and endure a soapy experience. Cruising in and around the streets is very comfortable and rides pretty well. Handling around the corners is a little lackey because of the high ride quality. When taking to the highway, the cab pushes itself delegating a prosperous acceleration. Optional off-road shock absorbers help to steer easily on uneven or hilly road conditions. The cab carries a turning diameter of 54.7 ft which is a huge number when standing it against the other vehicles in the segment. With the leaf suspensions, it strengthens the vehicle to handle much higher lows with less deflection. It also assists the vehicle to raise or lower. The cab gets five drive modes by default. Normal is the daily driving mode that delivers optimum comfort. The slippery mode brings back traction to the wheels to steer easily in slippery conditions. Tow-haul maximizes the torque to pull the payload easily. The Eco mode by mitigating the performance maintains upscaled fuel efficiency. The deep snow/sand mode optimizes accelerator pedal response, traction settings, and stability controls to help maintain forward momentum when driving through deep sand or snow. Optional Rock crawl mode empowered vehicle triumphs the hilly area with ease. Standard 17-inch wheels wrapped around the tires of measurement LT245/75SR17.

2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty Braking System

The anti-lock braking system on all four wheels helps prevent them from locking in a panic or harsh braking conditions. Post-collision safety mitigates the chances of additional damages that may occur after the initially happened collision. The brake pedals are responsive. In standard terms, the cab does not bring advanced driver aids. An Integrated trailer brake controller on the XLT allows adjustments of a trailer’s brakes from the cab. The optional hill descent control system continuously adjusts braking pressure to help control slippage and maintains a constant preset speed while going down a steep grade.

The newest Super Duty Ford regular cab is the heaviest vehicle on our list. It is also the regular cab with the biggest brake clippers. The curb weight of the GMC Sierra 2500 and the Chevy Silverado match exactly. Ram 2500 curb weight shows it is the lightest regular cab available on sale. The braking distance of Ram and GMC are the same. Looking at the braking distance of the Ford F-250 Super Duty regular cab shows the poorest braking system available on any truck. Keeping the curb weight of the Silverado in mind, an educated guess says it has the same braking distance and brake calipers as the GMC Sierra 2500HD.

Fuel Economy
9.0/10

These vehicles do not apply to the EPA ratings. Now that Ford has overhauled its powertrains, we can not predict it to bring a definite mileage. Though we are sure it brings some improvements in its efficiency as the body parts are now composed of lighter aluminum panels. It earned 15 mpg on the highways, and with its fuel tank of 34 gallons, it certainly brings over 500 miles of range.

Though the mileage number strongly relies on the amount of payload the cab is carrying, the zest of the table shows that the GMC is a more efficient vehicle with its top mileage on the highways. Shaking hands with the Silverado also pertains to the largest fuel-carrying capacity. The lowest fuel tank is seen with Ram 2500. 2023The Ford F-250 SuperDuty mpg is competitive in the segment.

Interior
9.0/10

The interior quality is improved with the latest upgrades. Seats now carry more comfort than before, but it is only seen in upper trims. The XL trim still lacks several parameters. Doors open highly large that do not feel confined while going in and out of it. Meanwhile being a vehicle highly lifted creates awkwardness. The door panels carry power window controls on XLE, Material quality is elevated. The cabin gets an overhaul and brings more appealing changes than before. The seats are reliable when carrying payloads on long distances. The dashboard is completely changed from the previous generation. It now encompasses a standard 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with an upgradeable 12-inch display. The material used on the dash feels strong to the touch. Four AC vents on the dash, two on either side of the infotainment. The steering wheel collects various controls with sound controls–manual tilt and telescopic function. The dashboard separated into two halves looks a bit tied up. It holds four dome-shaped controls that can be operated even with closed eyes. The center console shows a storage compartment and armrest of good paddling and length. Some cupholder and hidden storage space.

Competition
9.0/10

2023 Ford F-250 SuperDuty vs. 2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD

GMC is less expensive and provides more power and torque. The Sierra also possesses better acceleration. SuperDuty has more payload capacity with additional towing capabilities. The braking performance of GMC steps ahead of the F-250 regular cab. Both runs on the same size wheels, meanwhile the Ford brings an extended wheelbase. Sierra covers more ground clearance and curbs weight.

2023 Ford F-250 SuperDuty vs. 2023 Ram 2500

Ram costs extra and brings the segment-leading towing capacity. The updated interior of SuperDuty looks more refined and mannered. Bed dimensions on both the cabs are of equal sizes, while the cargo-carrying strength of the SuperDuty completes its duty with extra cu.-ft. Ground clearance on Ford is great, while the Ram 2500 is a lightweight vehicle. Ford shows more fuel capacity, while the Ram brings extra mpg with a shorter fuel tank.

2023 Ford F-250 SuperDuty vs. 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

With less money, Silverado has further legroom and extra gallons of fuel tank. It also flexes with more power and torque generation. Ford is strong with towing and segment-topping payload capacity. Bed length is the same on both, but cargo carrying capacity is seen more on the Silverado. Chevy Silverado is more lifted and hence secures more ground clearance. Ford F-250 is an all-wheel driven vehicle, while the Chevy has a rear-wheel drivetrain.

Final Verdict
8.2/10

The notable changes in the new Superduty make the vehicle worth spending extra thousand dollars. Fuel capacity is above average. The seats are comfortable, the infotainment system is updated, the dashboard looks more refined, and the steering response is acceptable. Similar to the trucks in the segment, the vehicle still lacks major advanced driver-assistive tech features. It costs extra to get into the car. Though, it impresses with its towing and best-in-class payload capabilities. Want more space to carry cargo, then GMC is a competitive rival. The Ram costs less and brings the highest towing capacity with the lowest curb weight. Chevy Silverado brings huge ground clearance and it costs you less too.
