Overview

The 2023 Ford F-150 continues to be offered in just trim levels as the previous model year. There is also a new Rattler package offered this year with unique 18-inch wheels, a dual-exhaust system, hill descent control, an off-road suspension system, and distinctive rattle-snake-inspired logos all around. That said, it is not available with the Ford F-150 regular cab model. The 2023 Ford F-150 price starts at $34,445 excluding the $1,895 destination fee.

2023 Ford F-150 for sale

The F-150 is available for sale with finance offers starting as low as $498/month. The 2023 F-150 finance offer starts at $589/month for a tenure of 60 months at 3.9% APR along with a $3,559 down payment. Ford hasn't released lease deals but should be out pretty soon.

Buying Advice

Among the available options, the XLT trim makes the most sense. While it comes with a similar engine setup as the base option, the mid-level variant is a significant improvement over the entry-level option in terms of the features that it offers. Additionally, we also recommend buyers opt for the 4WD setups for added ride control, irrespective of the bed size.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The latest iteration of the 2023 Ford F-150 regular cab will compete against staple rivals in the class, which include the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab, the GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab, and the RAM 1500 Classic Regular Cab. The Ford F-150 reliability rating of 83/100 by J.D. Power is only second best to the GM trucks. Also, the F-150 cost of ownership value is around the $51,565 mark for the first 5 years of ownership, which is on par with the segment standards.

Features
8.5/10

The 2023 Ford F-150 Regular Cab will be a carryover model mechanically. However, with the introduction of the Rattler Edition, the previously available two-tier trim structure is expected to undergo a change. The truck will continue to house a V6 engine under the hood as standard and even the other components remain largely unchanged. The American vehicle continues to be offered with two-bed variations and two drivetrain options, which easily provide ample autonomy to the buyers to pick their ideal configuration.

The 2023 F-150 Regular Cab is expected to start at a little under $33,000. While the pricing for the Rattler Edition is yet to be confirmed, it is known that the MSRP will start at around $46,100. Additionally, a Heritage Edition will also join the trim lineup, however, whether or not it will be included as a part of the Regular Cab configuration has not yet been decided.

Release Date

The 2023 Ford F-150 release date has not yet been confirmed. However, it is expected that the entire lineup, including the Rattler Edition, is expected to be launched by the Fall of 2022. Additionally, Ford has started accepting pre-orders for the latest iteration on its website.

Fuel Economy
6.9/10

The 2023 Ford F-150 Regular Cab will carry forward with similar fuel figures as before. In the city, the pickup truck manages 19 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway. Under combined driving conditions, it averages 21 miles to the gallon, which makes it the class leader. However, it comes with a smaller fuel tank of 23 gallons, which results in an overall range of 483 miles. When compared to their American counterparts, all three trucks average a similar combined efficiency of 20 MPG. However, they have larger tanks and manage a better overall range.

Interior
6.9/10

The 2023 Ford F-150 Regular Cab interiors are not flamboyant, but it does the job rather well. With the recent redesign, the truck sports a free-flowing setup that houses a centrally stacked touchscreen unit and is surrounded by knobs and buttons to control both infotainment and climate functions. It looks far from gimmicky but some materials do feel underwhelming in both touch and appeal. The base trim is devoid of power functionalities, however, on the higher trims, functionalities like power windows and rear defrost join the ranks.

As for comfort, the 2023 F-150 Regular Cab can seat three passengers only. The visibility is top-notch from all angles and even ingress and egress are made easy through the large opening doors. While interior storage space is not optimal, occupants can easily haul their belongings under the seat and in the trunk bed. With the recent redesign in 2021, the 2023 Ford F-150 will continue with the SYNC 4 system mated to an 8-inch touchscreen unit.

As compared to Ford’s full-size option, there is not much to distinguish between the competitors. While the trucks from Chevrolet and GMC offer the best space, the latter’s rather opulent design makes it our favorite in the comparison. On the other hand, the 1500 Classic Regular Cab has the least shoulder, head, and legroom, but the difference is only diminutive and might not be a deal-breaker.

Some of the standout interior features include:

  • Cloth Upholstery
  • Single-zone front climate control
  • 40:20:40 split-folding bench seat
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 4-speaker Sound System
  • AM/FM Stereo & SiriusXM Satellite Radio

Exterior
6.9/10

The 2023 Ford F-150 will carry forward a similar design from the outgoing iteration. The exterior fascia seems enticing for a truck meant for commercial chores and garners ample presence on the road. The truck’s front build seems bold and has a tint of aggressiveness. At the back, the taillamps seem rather subtle but even they complement the overall design. The new Rattler Edition available with the 2023 model looks rather distinct and has a rattlesnake logo embedded on the body. The 2023 F-150 Regular Cab makes use of 17-inch alloy wheels, which bestow a proportionate look despite the bed size.

In comparison, each truck has been recently redesigned. So, it is difficult to announce a certain winner based on the exterior fascia. However, when dimensions are concerned, both the GM siblings turn out to be the largest options. Both the RAM and Ford offerings are pretty similar in terms of exterior dimensions but the aluminum construction of the F-150 makes it the lightest in the segment.

Safety
9.0/10

The 2023 Ford F-150 Regular Cab being an all-new option is yet to be tested by the agencies. However, the ratings of the 2022 MY, which shares a similar platform, can be used as a reference. In the outgoing model, the truck received a 5-star rating from NHTSA. While no ratings from IIHS are available, the federal agency scores coupled with the feature list make the American vehicle a promising proposition. As standard, the F-150 comes equipped with brake assist, electronic stability control, and traction control. Other features available with the truck include:

  • Lane Departure Warning System
  • Daytime Running Lights
  • Integrated Turn Signal Mirrors
  • Blind-Spot Monitor
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Cross-Traffic Alert

2023 Ford F-150 Regular Cab vs 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab

Perhaps the 2023 Ford F-150 Regular Cab and 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Regular Cab are the biggest names in the full-size pickup truck. As a result, both these options deliver cogent performances. While Chevrolet’s option manages better towing capacity due to its higher torque ratings, Ford’s proposition leads the class with its efficiency. Both trucks are similar in their ride quality and even have a similar interior setup, which makes use of some inferior quality. So, among the two options listed here, the final choice depends on the buyer’s loyalty toward a particular brand and the nature of their requirements.

2023 Ford F-150 Regular Cab vs 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab, being similar to Chevrolet’s truck, delivers similar performance. As a result, it also leads in terms of towing capacity and provides better interior space when compared to the Ford truck. However, it loses out on the efficiency front. But compared to the Silverado and the F-150, the Sierra 1500 has the benefit of a well-dressed cabin, which makes it an enticing option at a slightly higher price.

2023 Ford F-150 Regular Cab vs 2023 RAM 1500 Classic Regular Cab

The RAM 1500 Classic Regular Cab is an all-around option. In the segment where it falls, the truck manages the best acceleration timings and has the highest ratings when towing capacity is concerned. It even comes with the largest fuel tank that gives it a lead in terms of range and be it on any road surface, the 1500 Classic overcomes the obstacle of shuddering ride quality. Additionally, it has marginally better space on offer in its only row, which makes it a complete package. So, for us, the RAM truck fares out as a better choice.

Final Verdict

The 2023 Ford F-150 Regular Cab is a carryover model from last year. So, most of the performance statistics remain similar and the truck continues to be a tantalizing option for buyers looking for a true workhorse. It is easy to drive, has a rather comfortable interior setup, and vaunts a decent towing capacity, which makes it a favorable choice for everyday driving. Additionally, belonging to Ford, the reliability and safety quotient of the vehicle remains unwavering. As a result, the F-150 reeks of versatility and delivers the best value for the money spent.
