The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro is offered as a coupe and as a convertible. It has two engine configurations to offer over the three trims it has. The powertrains include a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engine and a 6.2L 8-cylinder engine.

In this review, we will be considering the trims that come equipped with a 2.0L engine. These trims are the 1LS, priced at $25,905, the Camaro 1LT, priced at $26,600, and the Camaro 2LT, priced at 30,405.

We recommend

The 1LT trim, priced at an MSRP of $26,600 would be our recommendation as it is equipped with a tad bit more features. The powertrain offering of all three trims being identical won't be our reason for the recommendation. It comes down to the subtle interior features that make the deciding factor.  At a price of $30,405, we could recommend the high-end Camaro 2LT, but we are considering Value-for-money as a major aspect of our suggestions.

Chevrolet Camaro Coupe 2017 offers impressive mileage considering the sporty nature and powerful engine of the coupe. The 2017 coupe offers a fuel economy of 20 and 30 mpg on city roads and highways respectively, which is decent for an entry-level sports coupe.

The combined average comes out at 23 MPG for the Camaro Coupe 2017 while the competitors offer combined averages of 24, 24, and 26 respectively for Subaru BRZ Premium, Toyota 86, and Honda Accord Coupe LX-S. At last, the powerful engine in the Camaro coupe offers decent fuel economy along with massive power and torque outputs.

Seating & Comfort of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

The Camaro 2017 has a seating capacity of up to four passengers. The interiors are decent in looks and quality though aren't premium. The leather covers on the seats somehow enhance the interiors in looks. The utilities like cupholders, LATCH points etc. are present on the board but there was no mobile phone holder in the Camaro 2017 coupe. The seats are spacious and comfortable for the front passengers but it's not in the case of back seats. The back seats feature lower dimensions and space especially the headspace, the back seats will definitely bother the passenger especially if the passenger is six feet tall. Overall, the interiors are decent but the back seats aren't spacious.

The Chevy MyLink infotainment system features a 7-inch touchscreen system that features large icons and smooth UI. The major features of the infotainment system include AM/FM stereo with seek-and-scan and Bluetooth streaming audio for music. The sound system offers a rich experience with 6-speaker sound system on the standard variant. The infotainment system features easy connectivity options with two USB ports, Bluetooth, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Integration on the board.

Cargo Capacity of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro

Chevrolet Camaro Coupe 2017 has a standard cargo capacity of 9.1 ft. cube. The boot can easily hold two medium sized luggage bags. You can carry cargo for a short outing of four people with some minor adjustments. The overall experience was acceptable but wasn't impressive at all.

The competitors like Subaru BRZ Premium, Toyota 86, and Honda Accord Coupe LX-S offer cargo capacities of 6.9, 6.9, and 13.7 ft. cube respectively. Chevrolet Camaro 1LS features average cargo performance in the segment while the Honda Accord LX-S has best-in-class boot space.

The 2017 Subaru BRZ comes equipped with similar specs as the 2017 Toyota 86. It comes priced at $25,495 and offers just the basic expected from a. 2.0L 4-cylinder engine configuration. It generates only as much as 205hp and 156 lb-ft of torque. With a price slightly lower than the 2017 Camaro, it has compromised performance, interiors, exterior dimensions, and safety offerings. The only source where we see a ray of hope is in its fuel efficiency. This is due to the low engine power output.

2017 Chevrolet Camaro vs 2017 Toyota 86

The 2017 Toyota 86 gets a sub-par configuration and hence is just costlier and doesn't deliver in any aspect as such. It comes with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, just as the Camaro does, however it generates only 205hp as compared to the 275hp output of the Camaro. Even the interior space, cargo space, performance, and acceleration are below the offering of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro. However, its sub-par engine held it to get a slightly better fuel efficiency.

2017 Chevrolet Camaro vs 2017 Honda Accord Coupe

Priced significantly lower than the 2017 Camaro, the Honda Accord gets a more powerful engine, a 2.4L powerhead. However, it doesn't generate as much power as the 2.0L engine of the Camaro. Further, it is the Camaro that records a better performance, and acceleration. The 2017 Accord proves its prowess in the aspects of fuel efficiency, brake performance, and interior features.

The Chevy Camaro Coupe is the best in class in terms of power output, torque generation, acceleration, and more. For the 2.0L 4-Cylinder engine specs, there are three trims to offer. Any of the three trims are spectacular and offer the same powertrain. It comes priced at a range of $25,905-$30,405. We would recommend the 2017 Camaro over the competition if you are performance-oriented, else, if you are looking out for a more passenger-friendly vehicle then we would recommend the 2017 Honda Accord, which comes with more comfort, interior features, and more.
