Overview

Its been quite a while after the first Volvo XC60 made its debut in 2008 and continued for 10 years with no significant redesigns. Be that as it may, the Volvo made a noteworthy stride a year ago by updating the XC60 and redesigning it to the second era. Now, when the XC60 kept the cash registers busy, Volvo decided to use the XC60's reputation to flaunt their hybrid powertrain as well. This trick worked like a charm and attracted even more customers to their dealerships.

The 2020 XC60 Plug-in Hybrid is everything that the standard XC60 is, just with a different, more economical powertrain. Oh, and let's not forget, it is more environmentally friendly too.

Buying Advice

While the other car makers keep their base trims simple, Volvo has done excellently in providing their XC60's base trim with high-class features in-sync with technology. The base trim Momentum is loaded with features which are almost similar to that of the top trim. The Momentum trim with a T6 engine is the best option if you want performance and luxury together.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

Though, the standard XC60 plants a firm foot in its segment, its hybrid counterpart is fairly new in the competition. However, it is loaded with a plethora of features and safety tech that, yet again, sets it apart from the segment. The prices for the plug-in hybrid XC60 start at $39,200 and go all the way up to $52,250. There are three trims on offer and two engine options as well.

Having said that, the 2020 Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid pokes the territories of some well-reputed vehicles such as Mercedes Benz GLC Hybrid and the Jaguar E-Pace. Let's move ahead with the review and see if the XC60 is worthy enough to make a name for itself in this segment or not.

Features
8.5/10

The Volvo XC60 is available in three trims i.e., Momentum, R-design, and Inscription with two engine options namely the T5 and T6. The prices of these trims range from $39,200 for the base trim to $52,250 for the top-level Inscription trim.

There is not much difference in the features of the trims of 2020 Volvo XC60. Apart from the standard features on the base trims, the R-Dynamic gets a few upgrades that makes it feel a bit sporty. However the Inscription unlike the R-Dynamic gets more of luxury upgrades.

Trims Momentum R-Design Inscription
MSRP (T5) $39,200 $46,050 $46,550
MSRP (T6) $44,900 $51,750 $52,250

We Recommend

While the other car makers keep their base trims simple, Volvo has done excellently in providing their XC60's base trim with high-class features in-sync with technology. 2020 Volvo XC60 vs Jaguar E-pace

The Volvo XC60 might be old but the Jaguar E-pace is one of the oldest in the class. Both of them surely know how to lure their audience. Both of them come with quite power packed performing engines which perform on par with each other. More over both of them also come with quite advanced technical and technological features. However the Volvo XC60 turns out to be one of the most roomy SUV in the class. In fact it is easily affordable than the Jaguar E-pace which might become one of the major points to be taken into consideration.

2020 Volvo XC60 vs Mercedes Benz GLC Hybrid

The Mercedes Benz GLC might not be as old as the XC60 to the market, but it still has its tricks to play. Although its power and performer look quite less than the Volvo, that is not what it plans to offer. All it plans to offer is a smooth and comfortable ride. However it even lags behind in all the aspects. Thus the Volvo can be preferred over the GLC.

Final Verdict
8.9/10

The Volvo XC60 after spending a decade in this market, surely knows how to turn tables around. It is quite economic, comes with a power-packed engine with best in class performance, good fuel economy, luxurious interiors, extruding exteriors, advanced technological feature and what not. So it looks like you have got one preference on your mind already.
