Being pretty much the king of practicality in the compact crossover SUV segment the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander is a nice car despite being based on an unreliable platform. It certainly is not the most fun driver’s car around but might easily be one of the most efficient and practical. What we see is that owners have only reported 13 complaints out of which many are covered through the 3 recalls issued by the brand. They have also ironed out common issues like Mitsubishi Outlander door lock problems. Prices start at a very affordable MSRP of $25,240, which is excellent considering what its competitors are priced at. Speaking of competition, it is filled with the best of the segment that includes the Mazda CX-5, the Toyota RAV4, and the Hyundai Tucson. If the brand manages to keep 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander problems to a bare minimum, we’ve got a winner on our hands.

2019 Mitsubishi Outlander User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical problems:

  1. There have been a few complaints about the car engaging the emergency parking brake and not being able to disengage it.
  2. A large number of complaints have taken place regarding the stock tires fitted on the car. Apparently, these tires cannot take a bit of rain, and hydroplanes very easily in the situation.
  3. One owner faced a situation where the brakes had to be replaced so frequently because they were producing loud sounds.
  4. When one car was in tries and the owner was driving at approximately 20 mph, it started to roll backward. Braking was not possible in this situation and it looks like another one on the list of Mitsubishi Outlander transmission problems.
  5. One owner had reported that while driving at different speeds, the vehicle would stall without warning. This happened at several locations and the problem was found out to be with the electronic range and fuel range electronic detection system. This makes the car indicate the wrong distance to empty as well.

Interior problems:

  1. There was one car with the issue of the front driver seat being loose despite being bought new.

Exterior problems:

  1. One person faced an issue with a pebble hitting the windshield and cracking it Although this is understandable, the person soon discovered that the sunroof of the car also exploded inward when there was no apparent impact.

Safety problems:

  1. Although many cars are covered in a seatbelt recall, owners still say that many of them have been left out. Since this is the part that can directly affect safety, they are concerned as well. Multiple cars have also been involved in collisions with safety threats to the passengers. This happens to be one of Mitsubishi Outlander's common problems.
  2. A few owners have reported that the airbags failed to deploy during collisions. Some have also said that the deployment is sometimes wrong and fails to happen safely.

Should you buy the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander?

The Mitsubishi Outlander is a car that is extremely good value for money but also quite usable and practical. But considering its problems are few and the fact that they have been taken up through recalls, we can have some confidence in the product. Some of the older cars had Mitsubishi Outlander battery problems but they seem to be fixed right now. While the manufacturer has cemented its reputation as a pioneer when it comes to reliability and dependability, we feel the same about the 2019 Outlander. It is a great pick in the segment.
