... sensing wheel slippage. The transmission issues or well documented but this equally dangerous issue is being ignored. After numerous efforts to get this fixed thru the dealership and Infiniti, the Infiniti consumer affairs team says it's a characteristic of the vehicle and not offering a fix. DON'T PUT YOUR LIVES IN THIS CAR !!! Selling mine asap. Update. Got rid of car. No fix for this problem per NISSANRead More

... there is nothing else redeeming about this vehicle or Infiniti Corp. The battery dies every 18 months like clockwork. And, as others have stated, within months of purchasing this vehicle (with all of 12 miles on it), I began having horrible transmission problems. I took it into the service group 7 or 8 times to no avail because it was intermittent and the techs could never duplicateRead More

The demand for sporty luxury SUVs is on the rise, and Nissan’s luxury division Infiniti has responded with the 2014 Infiniti QX60. This car is the renamed version of the Infiniti JX35 but comes with a whole lot of changes. It has plush interiors, excellent ride quality, third-row seating as well as great fuel efficiency. This car also has a reliability reputation that is quite decent, reporting 171 complaints this year. The brand has issued 8 recalls, most of which address the problems that are present. Prices start at $43,945 without options which means it competes against the Acura MDX, the BMW X5, and the Audi Q7. Let us find out more about the Infiniti QX60 problems in this article.

2014 Infiniti QX60 User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical problems:

  1. The most widely reported problem about the car is that it refuses to accelerate under several engine conditions. The car jerks and comes to a stop without accelerating.
  2. Many owners have reported Infiniti QX60 transmission problems, in which the car goes into the wrong gear while driving. A car was found to be driving backward in drive mode.
  3. Several owners have reported sudden unintended acceleration as well. This has caused multiple accidents.
  4. There have been complaints regarding the brakes. The brake pedal will continue to depress even when the brake is stopped and a screeching noise is made. In some cases, the pedal refuses to respond to driver input.

Electrical problems:

  1. One owner has reported that the navigation screen goes completely black when reverse gear is engaged.
  2. The car has reported some electrical shutdowns that will cut off the power steering, radio, and so on.
  3. The headlights have the problem of going out and becoming inoperable in several cars. The problem is identified to be the ballast.

Exterior problems:

  1. Many owners have noted condensation in the headlamp and requested assistance.
  2. There has been another complaint about the windshield wipers being too slow while functioning and that the water is not cleared in time.

Miscellaneous problems:

  1. A large number of complaints have been regarding the fact that the manufacturer did not make parts for the recall available on time.

Safety problems:

  1. There have been a disproportionately large number of complaints regarding the car’s airbags and their operation. The steering wheel becomes slightly abnormal in behavior with a clicking sound as well as the horn becomes inoperable. They have failed to deploy in several situations due to problems with the OCS sensor.
  2. The airbag warning light is constantly illuminated in most cars.
  3. Many cars have reported issues with the seatbelt buckle failing.

Should you buy the 2014 Infiniti QX60?

The Infiniti QX60 is a pretty unique car in the segment that is generally dominated by German rivals. This mid-size SUV offers better equipment levels and plush interiors in the same price range, while also delivering in terms of space. It also looks the part and is one of the best designs in the segment. In terms of reliability, we should say that the car has a common problem of engine stalling but the manufacturer has solved the problem over time. Buyers should understand that all cars have some of these issues and we are good as long as the manufacturer takes it upon themselves and gets to the bottom of it. We would confidently buy one of these and recommend it to you.
