In the midsize sedan market, INFINITI has got sufficient popularity for manufacturing some of the best vehicles so far. The Q50 Pure, with a market price of $42,100 definitely comes under those sedans best known for their extraordinary performance and reliability factor. While it comes to reliability, the Q50 has some of the finest competitors like the Genesis G70 2.0T 4dr sedan that sells for $36,150, the Kia Stinger GT Line 4Dr sedan with a price tag of $36,290, and the Alfa Romeo Giulia with a starting market price of $42,950. Despite facing such challenges, the Q50 stands with a score of hitting a sales volume of 13,894 units in the respective year, with Stinger coming close by hitting a sales volume of 13,517 units.

However, the popularity of the Q50 is questioned by the NHTSA report that records 3 recalls and 1 complaint for the specific year. Users have raised issues about the vehicle’s faulty speed control causing the vehicle to accelerate even when it's in parking mode. Such issues compelled the manufacturers to replace and repair the faulty parts with a new ones for free of cost.

Safety Problems

  • Faulty speed control

Speed control issues are a major concern in most of the Infiniti Q50s. Users have found the vehicle starts accelerating on its own while resting the foot on the brake pedal to change the gear shift, triggering a crash by hitting the objects stalled in the front.

Engine and Mechanical Problems

  • Emergency brakes stop working

The emergency braking system in a vehicle stops working to prevent frontal crashes whenever required. Users have found the emergency brakes unresponsive while engaging them to prevent unwanted crashes. Instances like these may trigger unwanted accidents when there are passengers inside the vehicle.

The worst part is when the emergency brakes fail to deploy the car barely shows any warning sign or indication, as the driver realizes only after ramming up to something, leading to damage to the car body or causing injury if it bumps any human( if there’s any). Such instances should be taken into consideration and needed to be rectified soon.

Should You Buy a 2021 Infiniti Q50?

As a luxury sedan, finding a different alternative to the Infiniti Q50 in the used market is really difficult. It is one of the key reasons the vehicle earned maximum popularity all over the globe.

However, the 2021 Infiniti Q50’s inability to control speeds due to brake failure, faulty ECM (Electronic Control Module) software and power steering issues was something that has been a real challenge for the market reputation of the sedan. The brand took care of all these issues and concerns by repairing or replacing the faulty parts with newer ones free of cost for the respective year.

Now, if someone is planning to buy a used Q50 at a pretty good resale price, we would ask them to look into the model and verify whether the particular model is free from all those complaints and issues that have been registered against it on the NHTSA website or not. If it is free from those concerns, buying an Infiniti Q50 at an attractive resale price tag is a good deal indeed.
