... times, and it has 13,600 miles, a little over two years old. After owning it 2 months, the back up camera was dangling. At 2,000 miles and the beginning of the awful Texas heat, I was getting warnings about the fuel emissions system not working, and the electric parking break not working. Although I didn't notice any difference in the parking brake. Took it in and they couldn't find anything wrong with it,Read More

Honda will not replace it under their bumper to bumper warranty, and claims that it was due to damage, which could include the sun. If the materials of a car cannot sit outside without being damaged, I think we have an issue. Read More

The Honda HR-V brings spaciousness to the world of subcompact SUVs, a rare combination that is missing from most SUVs today. Honda’s smallest crossover defies the laws of physics with its incredible versatility and creative packaging of space inside. The crossover SUV is a family-friendly car, thanks to its ample passenger space and intuitive technology. With a humble four-cylinder powertrain under its hood, you certainly won’t be expecting to win a street race with the Honda HR-V. Nevertheless, the SUV is one of the best city commuters around with its spectacular fuel economy and easy maneuverability.

The 2020 iteration of the Honda HR-V carries forward the same formula of success adopted by its predecessors, with its gimmicky trick folding rear seat to entice customers. Honda’s brilliant reliability reputation is also on the cards, as the HR-V is in for the long run with excellent customer service and long-term reliability. Is the 2020 Honda HR-V one of the most reliable model years in the SUV’s brief history?

2020 Honda HR-V User Complaints and Problems

Engine and Mechanical Problems

  • Transmission - The Honda HR-V has a tendency to jerk at times while driving in traffic or while shifting gears. Drivers shouldn’t let this issue go unnoticed, as this could be a sign of transmission issues. Over time these issues may get more serious, thus ending you up with a fortune to pay for repairs. We recommend getting your transmission flushed or replaced for maximum efficiency.
  • Fuel pump - There have been reports of previous Honda HR-V owners facing a fuel pump failure prematurely. This issue may lead to an engine stall, leaving you stranded on the road with the vehicle refusing to start. Replacing the fuel pump through your mechanic is the only solution.
  • Suspension - The HR-V’s suspension setup causes some unnecessary vibration and wobbling while driving for some customers. If you face a suspension issue, visit your nearest dealership for the necessary safety fixes.

Electrical Problems

  • Push button start - The push button start was one of the key problem areas for older HR-V models. The push button failed to start the car, with the driver requiring several tries before he could finally get the engine running. Take your car to your mechanic to resolve any underlying electrical issues.

Safety Problems

  • Airbags - In a few incidents involving a vehicle crash, the airbags on the Honda HR-V failed to deploy. The owners involved in the accidents stated that the airbags were never deployed for their safety even though the vehicle was completely smashed. They also stated that the indicators also failed before the crash.
  • Seats - Customers have often complained about the lack of seat quality inside the Honda HR-V. The SUV lacks cushioning and enough support for tall individuals, which may cause discomfort during long trips. Invest some money in a seat cushion or replace the SUV with better seats.
  • Paint - For years, the Honda HR-V has been associated with poor paint quality. Drivers could notice the paint fading or peeling out from areas like the vehicle’s hood and the roof. Affected customers need to repaint their SUVs to prevent more issues down the road like rust.
  • Brakes - Over time, customers would notice a reduction in the braking performance of the Honda HR-V. This is because the coating on the rear brake calipers and pistons may peel off after extended use. To resolve this issue, you need to replace the existing brake calipers and pistons with new ones.

2020 Honda HR-V Recalls

The Honda HR-V has stayed free of any recalls for its 2020 model year. This serves as significant evidence of Honda’s outstanding reliability reputation in the market.
