Good performance overall. Average gas mileage during summer was 45 MPG while in winter went down to 39 MPG. Front display panel went dark around 42k leaving time, radio stations, gas mileage, reverse and side cameras, Bluetooth functions all disabled hence compromising safety. Honda refuses to fix saying 36 month warranty has expired. Probably the last Honda I will own.Read More

... correction even tho it isnt windy. Overall extremely disappointing car. On top of I had to deal with typical dealer bullshit. I am regretting buying this car big time the only plus is if I drive very gentlly I get good gas mileage but then it takes 60 seconds to get to 30mph and people try to run me off the road. Also the battery never fully charges.... Update.Read More

... experience has been bought the car on Friday and returned it on Monday. Instead of 700 miles to a gas tank I got 440. I'm always using gas instead of the battery as my battery never fully charges and drains extremely quick. I have talked to the Poway Dealership (don't ever buy a car with them) who's response is "that's how its supposed toRead More

The Honda Accord has been a star offering for a long time in the brand’s wide portfolio of vehicles. The Honda Accord Hybrid takes it up a few notches to prove itself in the sparsely populated hybrid sedan segment. Right from the start, the Accord was quite a reliable vehicle and a similar trait is carried on with the Accord Hybrid. The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid has seen zero recalls along with 19 complaints so far. The common issue with the sedan is its braking system malfunction where the brakes either fail to stop the vehicle or the automatic emergency braking system malfunctions and stops the vehicle suddenly. The sedan did clock an overall total sales of 322,655, making the total number of official complaints negligible. Since the hybrid model of the Accord shares a lot with the regular version, the latter has seen plenty of complaints regarding its airbags, brakes, and electrical system as well. In its class, the Honda Accord Hybrid is challenged by the Toyota Camry Hybrid, the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid, and the Ford Fusion Energi.

Honda Accord Hybrid user complaints and problems

Engine problems

  • Intermittent starting problem: A single owner has been facing this problem with his 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid sedan. The complaint states that the engine would fail to start intermittently but there were no issues with the battery of the car.

Safety problems

  • Brake failure: Plenty of owners have faced a total brake failure on multiple occasions. The majority of the complaints state that the brakes failed while driving and all the warning lights related to the braking system lit up simultaneously. In most of the cases, the authorized dealerships did not acknowledge the issues and labeled them as random where the owners were instructed to restart the vehicle if the issue recurred.
  • Braking mitigation system failure: Apart from the brake failure issue, some of the owners also filed complaints regarding the automatic collision mitigation system. In all the cases, the system malfunctioned and applied the brakes without any reason. One owner further states that the dealership informed after a diagnosis that the front camera and the radar sensors required re-calibration but wouldn’t do it since it was not covered under warranty.
  • Airbag and airbag sensor failure: Even though the Accord Hybrid did not face both of these issues, the regular version of the sedan did. The owners state in their reports that on various occasions where they were involved in an accident, the airbags failed to deploy. Some owners also complained that the SRS warning light would come on while driving, indicating a faulty airbag sensor.

2017 Honda Accord Hybrid recalls

There are no recalls for the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid yet.

Should you buy a used Honda Accord Hybrid?

The Honda Accord Hybrid is a feature-packed and value-for-money sedan in its class that scores big on fuel economy. The practicality it offers has made it the most preferable option in the market while it does have its own share of drawbacks. The reliability factor of the sedan is decent and the total number of complaints the 2017 model has faced till now is low. Getting a used Honda Accord Hybrid poses no risk however, do look out for the faulty AEB system and the faulty braking system as well.
