Overview

With an unruffled Q7, Audi's luxury SUVs are already favorites, but with the "S" moniker, there is an enormous array of performance and technology upgrades to take family motoring to a totally new level. A dominative seven-seater SUV, enriched with the luxury delight of the German manufacturer. The Audi SQ7 is powered by a 500-horsepower V8 engine. A three-row vehicle designed to provide an abundance of room in the spacious cabin. This is a thrill to steer not just around the city but also roars on the highways. One of the most famous luxurious SUVs available on the market, someone can get their hands on it when not stretching their budget over a hundred thousand dollars. The purely shined dashboard reflects many lights. Barring the sumptuous interior, it boasts, this scintillating performer sprints against one of the most famous names in the industry.

The optional Executive package is now hardened with dual-pane laminated windows, along with 22-inch wheels as an additional. Featuring black or matte gray summer performance tires, they are available in either color. It competes against BMW X5 M50i,Porsche Cayenne GTS, and the Maserati Levante Modena.

Buying Advice

If one is paying above $90,000, then going for the Prestige trim is not a hard decision. Summing up all the features of the Premium-Plus variant, it brings a head-up display, multi-color ambient lighting, heated rear seats with ventilation for the front passengers, and to give a more luxurious touch, the soft-cling doors are offered. The Luxury package adds a faux suede headliner, massaging front seat, and extended leather treatment. The common package on both trims is also a nice choice when one does not wish to opt for the Prestige.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

For the 2023 generation, the manufacturer has not bought a remarkable change in SQ7. There are some changes on optional packages, which might be a consideration if shoppers want their Audi to stand out from the crowd.

Features
9.0/10

The Audi sends SQ7 in two trim formats. Premium Plus is the beginning and Prestige is the end. Both take their sovereignty from a turbocharged V8 engine that gives rise to 500 horsepower. Panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable rate steering wheel, 360-degree camera system, hands-free liftgate, adaptive air sport suspensions, leather upholstery, wireless charging pad, and dual touchscreen infotainment displays with navigations are some dowries to compensate for the price.

Engine and Performance
9.2/10

A twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine is the ultimate source of motivation for this midsize luxury SUV. It assembles 500 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. Engaged with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the manufacturer brings an AWD system by default with it. With the thunder performance, the engine preaches SQ7 to rush a 0-60 mph mark in just 3.5 seconds. Passing at the velocity of 113 mph, it can attain a quarter-mile task in 12 seconds. Looking at its size, no one can assume it to be this rapid. The transmission shifts are smokey and gain an enormous slide. The steering wheel is properly weighted and very effectively handles the 5300 pounds of the SQ7. It is not complaining and it should neither be. It is a heavy vehicle that certainly weighs definitely when hustling around the corners. City driving is sliding and buttery to justify its tag of one of the most luxurious mid-size SUVs available in the nearest dealerships. When cruising on the highways, people seated inside perceive the strong punch of the engine. The first gear ratio is 4.71:1 which reduces up to 1.28:1 till the fifth and 0.67:1 when switching the last gear. It just takes 3.32 seconds to return to normal.

The Audi SQ7 0-60 figures make it the fastest luxurious SUV on the market. The BMW X5 M50i is the most affordable midsize luxury SUV. Maserati Levante Modena costs the highest and brings the most amount of horsepower. Keeping an eye on the 2023 Audi SQ7 price, it feels fair deal as it begets the highest torque. Audi SQ7 top speed is the lowest in all. Porsche Cayenne GTS is way more expensive but does not bring competitive strength numbers. It's better top speed over the BMW and Audi, but still, the Levante takes the charge with the highest of all.

2023 Audi SQ7 Ride and Handling

Driving expressions of the SQ7 are top-of-the-line. The seats are frightfully prosperous with an abundance of room available for first and second-row passengers. The riding experience corresponds to the luxury nomenclature of the Audi. Being a heavy vehicle, handling feels a bit on the harder side. Around the corners, the car manages itself very well, optimizing the minimum body roll possible. The adaptive air sport suspension dampens each tire independently to work according to different road conditions. This helps in bringing better road visibility by lifting the SUV with few measurements. Audi sends multi-link suspensions that incorporate both good ride and handling experience. It contains five drive modes. The Comfort softens the suspensions and less steering wheel resistance to dampen road feel. Auto is the daily driving mode that is centralized around balancing comfort and performance. Dynamic is the spirited mode that enhances the throttle response and sharpens the steering for precise control. The individual is the mode that enables the driver to personalize controls according to them. The Allroad mode functions increasing ride height and stiffened suspension to handle rough road surfaces. Standard 21-inch wheels move around the tires of size P285/40HR21.

2023 Audi SQ7 Braking System

The braking functionality is on a stunning level when running the SUV smoothly. Sometimes they feel jerky and turn off the engine soon. Standard automatic emergency braking system warns if a front collision is unstoppable. If no response comes from the driver, it automatically applies the brake to bring the car to a full stop. The Lane-keeping system by making small steering corrections helps bring the car back to the centered lane.

The Audi SQ7 curb weight trunks it into the massive midsize luxury SUV in the comparison. Carrying the best affordability in the segment, the BMW X5 M50i shows related weights but stops at the highest distance on the table. Porsche Cayenne GTS carries the lowest curb weight and stops the fastest. Keeping the curb weight and identical size brake calipers of the segment, an educated guess tells us that Maserati Levante Modena stops far better than the BMW. On the front wheels, Audi is equipped with the vastest brake calipers. Similarly to that, the rear wheels on the Porsche showcase the largest calipers.

Fuel Economy
7.5/10

The mileage numbers of the new SQ7 are average in its class and one will be ever ready to compensate the mileage numbers to get a more outstanding performance It sends a combined mpg of 17 while earning 14 in the city and 20 on the highways. After a complete filling of its fuel tank of 22.5 gallons, the combined miles of range on this luxury SUV is 382.5. It manages 315 city miles and 450 highway miles of range.

BMW X5 M50i is the most fuel-efficient vehicle scoring an extra one or two mpg over the other vehicles. The newest Audi SQ7 mpg numbers lack one mark to stay competent with Porsche Cayenne in the city and on highways. Porsche gains the largest fuel capacity. Maserati Levante scores very similarly to other rivals of its class. Audi SQ7's fuel capacity and range numbers are better than Levante's.

Interior
9.2/10

Inside the newest SQ7, the cabin feel is premium and top-notch. The plush all-blacked-out interior matches the vibes very well with red-coated seats and components. Everything is premium to the touch. As a large vehicle, the doors open adequately wider to accommodate the people very easily. Even the taller people do not cater to any complexity when surfing in and out of the cabin. Rear door panels have a sane bolstering of high-quality material. It encompasses the matt chrome element, controls for windows, and door bins to carry kinds of stuff. Front door panels obey the same instructions, but also do seat adjustments to stand apart from the rear. Front row seats are highly pleasing and can hold on long distances-heating function by default and ventilation on charge. Second-row seats are properly accommodative but ask for extra money to install ventilation. By folding the second-row seat, third-row seats welcome you, but they are not spacious. Certainly one would ask for legroom.

A glossy gentle looking dashboard shelters an all-black accent. It is subtle and its streamlined approach hides the AC vents with scrutiny. A total of four AC vents look well-integrated with lines above the touchscreen. It holds two touchscreens on the dash. One is a 10.1-inch display, underneath a secondary display that fulfils an extravagant flex of a luxury vehicle. The leather-wrapped steering wheel is heated and holds several controls. The center console consolidates an agreeably padded armrest, gear knob, cupholders, and touchscreen holding hands with that on the dash.

Despite accommodating the third row in it, the Audi SQ7 gains more room than the BMW X5 M50i in its first and second-row seats. Behind the first row, the Porsche Cayenne GTS offers more cargo space than the Maserati Levante. The cargo-carrying capacity of 2023 Audi SQ7, jumps ahead of every other name of the comparison.

Highlights of the interior features–

  • 8-way power front seats with 4-way lumbar support
  • 40-20-40 folding second-row seats with manual reclining
  • Power tilt and telescopic steering column
  • Power rear windows with fixed third-row windows
  • Fixed 50-50 folding third-row seats
  • Front and rear cupholder
  • Ashtray
  • Proximity key for doors and push button start
  • Illuminated entry
  • Homelink garage door transmitter

How intuitive is the 2023 Audi SQ7 Infotainment System?

The replica of the infotainment system updated on the Q7, also noticed here with the same intent. Three fully digital screens make the dashboard look filled with tech. The main 10.1-inch infotainment touch screen located at the center consoles Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connections. The layout and user experience are friendly and appraising. The voice control commands are not as accurate as the Mercedes sends with its MBUX system. Two many screens on the dash create fallacies while driving. A standard 19-speaker 730w sound system is not complaining but is far better than others that offer poor sound quality. The optional 23-speaker Bang and Olufson surround-sound system mesmerizes exactly like in a concert.

Characteristics of the infotainment system–

  • Audi Connect care with a limited-time subscription
  • Audi MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch response
  • The 10.1-inch upper infotainment touchscreen
  • Second lower touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
  • SiriusXM Radio
  • Bluetooth
  • Speed-compensated volume control
  • Steering wheel controls
  • 19-speaker 703w 3D audio system

Exterior
9.2/10

External affairs of Audi SQ7 are sterile and sober looking. A little curvaceous design and roofline preserve the good proportion of this mid-size SUV. The lifted and extended hood covers a twin-turbocharged four-cylinder V8 engine underneath. Bonnet lid occupies sharp lines over it to delegate more than just a simple-looking appeal. The front grille matted in black square-shaped boxes chauffeurs the Audi rings cheering up in chrome accents. Front parking sensors get their place on the front spoiler. Sideways, it held big air intakes to cool down the temper of the angry V8. Front LED headlights function pretty intriguingly especially when it forms certain patterns with it. The side silhouette is swamped with all-black accents. Similar to the front, they cover the window as well as door panels minded with only a moto. Outside rearview mirrors are heated. Black windows intact the privacy. Rendered in seven exterior shades, we like to see our SQ7 roar in Barrel Brown Metallic. Standard 21-inch wheels with an option to upgrade to 22-inches evolve rolling around the tires of proportion P285/40HR21. The clean rear end presents four visibly-brightened exhaust tips, a rearview camera, an SQ7 badge, brake lights, and taillights.

Despite being a five-seater mid-size luxury SUV, the Maserati Levante Modena brings the longest wheelbase. Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5 M50i are of almost the same length. The New Audi SQ7 wheelbase is well enlarged to meet the competition. Levante carries more ground clearance than Porsche Cayenne GTS.

Glimpses of the exterior of the Audi SQ7–

  • 21-inch wheels with all-season tires
  • Tire mobility kit
  • Clearcoat paint
  • Panoramic sunroof with sunshades
  • Body-colored front and rear bumper
  • Metal-looking bodyside insert
  • Metal-looking body-side window trims
  • Body-colored door handles
  • Fixed rear windows with fixed interval wiper and defroster
  • Speed-sensitive rain-sensing variable intermittent wipers

Safety
8.5/10

Audi covers most of the necessary driver-assistive features at the standard level. But installing the advanced features charges you extra. Standard Adaptive cruise control maintains a significant gap between SQ7 and the vehicle moving ahead. The 360-degree camera system gives a top-down view of the car during tight parking conditions. The intersection assist standard on Prestige trims detects cross traffic at up to 18 mph and alerts the driver.

Salient features of safety system–

  • Standard automatic emergency braking with forward collision warning
  • Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
  • Standard adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode
  • Dual front and dual rear side-mounted airbags
  • Front and rear head airbags
  • Airbag occupancy sensor
  • Stability control
  • ABS and driveline traction control
  • Child seat anchor
  • Rear door child safety locks

Competition
8.0/10

2023 Audi SQ7 vs. 2023 BMW X5 M50i

BMW is budget-friendly and offers additional power and torque productivity. Costing a bit extra, the Audi SQ7 brings seating for seven people. Audi is a bit faster SUV despite its supplementary curb weight. Both carry wheelbases of the same length. But Audi is extra large. BMW sends shorter wheels. The interior of Audi looks more sophisticated. BMW is good at scoring better mileage numbers.

2023 Audi SQ7 vs. Porsche Cayenne GTS

Audi seems to be winning the battle one-sided. As it begets more power, better acceleration, more cargo-carrying space, a better-looking interior, a longer wheelbase, and many other features to stand apart. Porsche sends bigger fuel capacity to earn more miles of range with decent mileage numbers. Both of the luxurious SUVs carry wheels of the same size and proportions.

2023 Audi SQ7 vs. 2023 Maserati Levante Modena 3.8L

Costing around an extra thirty percent of the SQ7 price, the Levante Modena looks engineered with supreme detailing. Despite the compact size, it looks more beautiful than Audi and also gains a prolonged wheelbase. On the other hand, running with a heavy body, the SQ7 is impressively fast in the segment. It also delivers longer dimensions helping it acclimate more people and cargo inside.

Final Verdict
9.0/10

This performance version of the Q7 SUV is a great deal in the mid-size luxury segment. The excellent offering at a lower price than its rivals shocks the shoppers. Thundering V8 makes the Audi prompt. Nicely fitted spacious cabin lets the passenger enjoy much. Various standard driver-assistive features. A nice-looking infotainment system and many more factors to consider getting their hands on it. Some drawbacks include advanced driver aids on a charge, distracting touchscreens on the dash, and restricted third-row seats. The BMW X5 M50i can be the best option available with a low budget. The Porsche Cayenne GTS is good if you just have to flex your wealth and do not care much about power. The Maserati Levante is even more expensive but justifies the price by giving an exquisite curved design and extra power than the Audi SQ7.
