Debuting in 2006, Audi Q7 has been recognized as one of the highest-ranking full-size luxury SUVs. Audi has managed to maintain its reputation regarding performance and reliability against its competitors like Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and BMW X5. With the combination of high-end interior and infotainment, the powerful Q7 provides a cabin that compliments its sharp exterior. But the luxury also comes with a heavy price tag. The price for the 2020 Audi Q7 starts around $53,292 with an ownership cost of $7,585 per year; surprisingly low for its class.

But even a well-built machine comes with its own set of problems and so does the 2020 Audi Q7. The car requires frequent repairs compared to its other contemporaries. Also, RepairPal awarded the car with a reliability rate of 2.5 out of 5 which is at best average and places the Q7 at 8th out of 19 luxury SUVs.

Electrical Problems

  • Fuse - The small portable air pump that came with the car would blow the fuse to the 12V Cigarette lighter. The owner has replaced the fuse five times and observed that after replacement, the fuse would blow up after every 4 or 5 uses of the pump.

Safety Complaints

  • Cruise Control - When driving on Cruise Control, the speed of the vehicle is automatically adjusted to the speed limit. It will pick up the speed from a cross street which can result in spontaneous speed change or sudden breaking. The owner stated that they cannot use the cruise control feature and the dealership was not able to replicate the issue.

Mechanical Problems

  • Rear Differential - An owner stated that when the car exceeded the speed of 20 mph, the vehicle started making noises from the passenger’s side rear of the vehicle. The owner stated that the car was unable to exceed 20 mph and no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was examined and was diagnosed with the rear differential needing to be replaced.
  • Rear brakes - The owner complained that the rear brakes squeak when backing up during cold or hot but mostly during cold or in the morning. The car was taken for examination but the factory dealership could not find anything.
