I have had 2 radio replacements and the same problem has existed since I have owned it. I would hear a popping noise and then the screen goes blank and it suddenly reboots in 1-20 minutes. One day the Jeep was totally dead and then 20 minutes later started after I called a tow truck. I went to arbitration andRead More

The Wrangler is an icon in the automotive community and has its ties as far back as World War II. Obviously aimed at off-roading, the Wrangler is nearly unstoppable off the beaten path while its retro-inspired aesthetics only add to its appeal. Retro styling aside, the Wrangler is actually quite modern inside with advanced tech and a well-thought-out interior layout. Moreover, the Wrangler also comes with a hybrid powertrain which offers fuel efficiency, unlike no other off-roader.

As good as it sounds, Jeep is far from being the most reliable car brand and the 2019 Wrangler, in particular, has been disastrous. It has had 6 recalls and a whopping 461 complaints on the NHTSA database.

2019 Jeep Wrangler User Complaints and Problems

Engine and Mechanical Problems

  • Powertrain - Many users have complained that after they switch to the four-wheel drive mode, the vehicle indicates that the axle locker needs service and a warning light comes on. For some other users, the check engine light and a host of other error lights continue to come on without any solution.
  • Steering - This is by far the most common problem in the 2019 Wrangler models. Over 350 complaints have been made in regard to the steering. Users complained that after going over a bump on the highway, the steering ‘wobbles violently’, meaning it shakes from one side to the other vigorously, which makes controlling the vehicle extremely difficult. The steering is very loose and the only solution is to stop the vehicle and start it up again, which is very dangerous and also inconvenient.

Electrical Problems

  • Electrical system - Plenty of users also complained that while driving the vehicle, a host of warning lights would randomly turn on. Then the vehicle wouldn’t start or would completely lock up. If the vehicle is allowed to sit for a while, then all the other lights except the check engine light would go away and it could be driven again.

Miscellaneous Problems

  • Defroster - Users also complained that during winter, the windshield defroster was not working properly, as it did not defrost the edges of the windshield. This would create major visibility issues.

Should you buy the 2019 Jeep Wrangler?

Well, the Wrangler is certainly an attractive off-roader but it is plagued with numerous problems. The most common issue is the one with the steering’s violent wobbling, which can be extremely dangerous in traffic scenarios. Though Jeep has apparently fixed it with the recall, there are a few complaints that state that the issue has not completely gone away even after repairs. Hence, we are not too sure if you should go for the 2019 Jeep Wrangler. Instead, you could look for other options in the market.
