An entertaining and beautiful looking entry level sub-compact SUV that is what the E-Pace is,It is Jaguar’s offering to the segment. It is offered in 3 different trims with AWD as standard and powered by a 2.0L turbocharged Inline-4 engine producing close to 250hp in the first two and about 300hp in the top end model. It is a head turner and stands out among the crowd. The car is good in both ‘the Show and the Go’.The engine is shared with the XE which makes this really good considering how superb that car was and is.The Entry level sub-compact SUV market is not a hill that can be climbed easy,it is a very crowded space to conquer.
Buying Advice
The E-Pace thankfully does not make buying difficult by offering only 3 trims and each of those are well differentiated, maybe there is not much difference in how the cars look. There is difference in the performance offered though and the features offered as well.An being a being that loves power, speed and performance I would definitely prefer the 300 Sport for the extra horsepower.
The E-Pace starts at a price point of $40,995 for the base model and goes all the way up to $49,995 for the fully loaded model. This price point puts it in contention with rivals like The BMW X1,Volvo XC40 and the Mercedes Benz GLA.
Features
The E-Pace is offered in 3 trims. The Base model starts from a price of $46,095 it is named P250 and the number denotes the power its engine produces. The Sport trim is the fully loaded model priced at $49,995 and is powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged Inline-4 engine producing 300 horsepower.

Currently, the Jaguar has the best power output. TheBMW X1 has the best power to price. In terms of value, the BMW takes the win. Jaguar however is expected to make some changes under the hood in the 2021 model, which might result in these figures changing to a great extent.
How well does the Jaguar E-Pace handle?
The one section where all Jaguars shine is in their Handling and the E-Pace is no exception. The superb Chassis gives a feedback soo well like it communicates with the driver and that brilliant chassis is complimented perfectly by the Suspension which is just right and these two aspects put together makes this SUV dynamically well sorted. The steering too is precise and the Body roll has been controlled.
The availability of a full-time AWD system makes this little SUV manage to grip the road very well. The torque steer and understeer are mitigated to further compliment the SUVs handling. Helping remain steady at highway speeds.
Braking Performance
Equipped with 13.7” rotors in the front and 11.8” in the rear. The rotor size seems too big on one end and too small on the other. Also the SUV weighs 4,035 lbs and is the heaviest amongst the list here.
2021 Jaguar E-PACE SUV Brakes
That and the braking distance of 130ft prove this is too much for the Rotors to handle. However the feedback and the feel from the Brakes is good and the ABS works just fine.

The Mercedes turns out to be the best in terms of braking performance stopping from 0-60 in the shortest distance of 120ft. And weighing at 3,164 lbs it is the lightest car too, with the smallest bunch of brakes the stopping prowess of the Merc is just great. The Volvo and the BMW have the same braking distance while the Volvo weighs the BMW,We cannot conclude which of these two are better as we do not have the size of BMW’s brake Rotor.
Fuel Economy
7.5/10
The Jag with it’s 2.0L Inline-4 engine produces good horsepower but does not give good fuel efficiency. The E-Pace has a big fuel tank at 18.1 Gallons and is the highest capacity among its rivals. This however is where the smirk ends because the mileage it offers in the city is at 21mpg and it offers 28mpg on the highway which sums up to 24mpg combined.Which when seen for itself is not too bad but pit it against the rivals it seems terrible.

The Volvo has the smallest tank in the list at 14.2 Gallons this is not too bad as the mileage figures are satisfactory too giving the car a considerable range before running out.The BMW in the City offers 1 mpg more than the Volvo in the city at 24mpg and matches the Volvo’s figures everywhere else except the Fuel tank capacity as the BMW has a 16.1 gallon fuel tank. However the Mercedes is the most efficient with 24mpg in the city,34 mpg on the highway and this even though it has a small 14.8 gallon fuel tank it has a good range. But still the Jaguar travels the farthest owing to that big big fuel tank of 18.1gallons.
Interior
9.2/10
The 2021 E-Pace feels rich and beautiful,Giving us a taste of what a premium interior is like.In tradition with the badge it carries. However, the inside is made of plastic which might be a problem for a few.
The upholstery is leather. The cabin is also spacious and has a huge 11.4inch infotainment system. The New rendition of the car might get a bigger infotainment system although,it does not bring about a huge change.
Coming to the rear,The back seat unfortunately is too cramped and the car’s total seating capacity is 5 members.

The rear seat of the E-Pace is really congested and cramped in the rear seat.Although, it has a spacious cargo capacity of 24.2 cubic feet. The Mercedes is spacious in the rear as well and feels a bit more comfortable. The BMW is the most spacious car among the list and it is evident from the figures.
Some of the interior features on offer are:
heated memory Front seats

The E-Pace is the heaviest car amongst the vehicles here and with the inclusion of a hybrid powertrain, the weight is only bound to increase. The height of the Jaguar is really superb only shorter than the Volvo. The Merc is the lightest car off the bunch and is the least wide, closer to the ground. The BMW however is the longest car with the shortest wheelbase and that tess us how good this car handels.
Some of the highlight exterior features are:
LED headlights
Power liftgate
Sportier exterior styling

The E pace is a pretty superb overpriced sub-compact Suv.This is a very feature loaded, capable, powerful car that can seat 5 people and do a little bit of off the road action. It comes in as a Entry level car in a very crowded market and the rivals it has to face aare no slouches, let us see how they stack up.
2021 Jaguar E-Pace Vs 2021 Mercedes Benz GLA
Mercedes in one of the household german names is one of the big contenders here with the GLA on offer they already have a good hold in the market. The GLA is lighter, more efficient car and more affordable than the Jag.
That is all well and good, but the Jaguar is the better overall performer, has better performance figures, more safety features and more fully loaded than the Merc. The GLA is a bit too luxury focussed and that is all.Although, the price is high the Jaguar might be a better option.
2021 Jaguar E-Pace Vs 2021 BMW X1
The BMW have always had a lead on their competition in almost every time, but they seem to have met their match.
The Jaguar seems to not back down at all from trading punches with the X1 as the differences keep going they are not so evenly matched in the performance with the jaguar being more powerful and the places where it is bested by the BMW is a few aspects in the dimensions, fuel efficiency and the price. The Jag is overpriced!.
Final Verdict
The Jaguar E-Pace is a really good Entry level Sub-compact SUV.Yes! It is overpriced and that is a big factor in looking for alternatives but the features, power, comfort and styling offered justifies what you pay for it and will put a smile on your face everytime you put a mile on your car. The car feels rich and does justice. It rightly stands up to the Badge it wears and the price it charges.
