Overview

A full-size pickup truck capable of doing various versatile tasks, the GMC Sierra 1500 is one of the best available options. Highly infamous in the US market, this Crew Cab shares the DNA with the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Carries a spacious cabin, but is not composed of high-end luxury features like the Ram 1500. It is available in Single Cab, Double Crab, or four-door Crew Cab with bed sizes measuring the length of 5.8 to 8.2 feet. The cab is readied with the engine choices – 310-hp turbo I4, Duramax turbo diesel with 460 lb-ft of torque, a 5.3L V8 (355hp), and a 6.2L V8 (420-hp). The truck carries the third highest conventional-towing capacity among all pickup trucks.

In the 2023 generation, the GMC has bought a new AT4X AEV edition for more offroad orientation. This dedicated Crew Cab is made to play in the mud and has a shield of steel in front and rear bumpers. It also boasts a winch at the front. The AT4X AEV edition gets an 18-inch wheel wrapped in 33-inch inches of wrangler domain MT tires. More steel skid plates under the cab help protect the rear differential, fuel tank, transfer case, and steering components. Along with that number of available powertrains and towing options, the new edition is more powerful than any other crew cab. The GMC Sierra 1500 Limited Denali strives against the Ford F-150 Raptop SuperCrew, the Ram 1500 TRX Crew Cab, and the Toyota Tundra Pro Crew Cab.

Buying Advice

CARHP recommends going for the Denali trim wholeheartedly. Being the top variant, it offers everything you need in a place, but if the shopper doesn't want to extend the budget, the Elevation is the best option. It offers more features than the Pro and the SLE. With 20-inch wheels, it delivers a great look. It brings along more towing capacity

Comparative Analysis against Competition

Features
8.0/10

The new Sierra 1500 is limited Denali – the top trim, introduces the luxurious side and is available with a 4WD system. It incorporates all of the safety features listed for the AT4X, minus the adaptive cruise control, and builds off the SLT trim. The Ultimate Denali costs way more than the usual trims. With a 6.2L V8, it costs an extra around $15000 from a regular Denali with a 5.8 ft. bed. A GMC Denali with a 6.6 ft. bed costs more than $3800 than a regular with a 5.8 ft. bed.

The newest Ram TRX is the most expensive Crew Cab on our list. It is also the fastest vehicle to catch 0-60 mph and run a quarter-mile. The new GMC Sierra

Denali is the most affordable vehicle, but it offers the lowest power output. All the cabs are 4WD driven. With the massive price tag, the Ram 1500 TRX brings the highest power and amount of torque with it. The Tundra TRD Pro and the Denali have the same top speed, but the TRD Pro is a bit slower. With the extra money, the Raptor does bring more power than the TRD Pro but lacks torque figures.

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited Denali Ride and Handling

The ride quality of the new Sierra Limited Denali is generous and enjoyable, but the seating is a bit laggy when talking about comfort. The normal mode feels a bit stiffer, while the sport mode is not overly harsh. With a 5.3L V8, it feels pretty fast even in normal mode. On switching to the sports mode, the truck makes a difference in driving and generates a better throttle response compared to the other mode. The steering column is decent enough and has adequate responsiveness. Aided with a separate lever, the driver can shift the transmission. While driving in the snow and ice, it is easy to decelerate down the hill without actually using the brakes. The truck gets off-road tuned suspensions that adjust according to the terrains we are driving the vehicle on. It gets independent suspensions for the front wheels and a Solid axle in the rear to improve traction over big bumps and hills as well as gain more torque from the differential–as there are fewer parts that power must transfer through.

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited Denali Braking Performance

Ahead with the pair of power brakes for all four wheels, the Sierra 1500 limited Denali fetches various safety features with it as standard. The ProGrade Trailering system with the help of intelligence trailering technology helps streamline the hitching and towing process with integrated tools – that help in towing with commanding control. The front and rear park assist provide distance alerts to the nearby detected objects to help park and avoid objects at low speeds. The ABS brakes automatically sense when a tire has stopped rotating under extreme braking and will modulate the brake pressure to allow the tire to rotate. This increases the vehicle's ability to turn while braking.

Fuel Economy

The range figures are 384 miles in the city, 504 miles on the highways, and 432 miles combined. The 6.6 ft. bed option is not very fuel-friendly, and that is why with this option, the Sierra 1500 Denali attains the mileage figures as – 14 mpg in the city, 19 mpg on the highways, and 16 mpg combined, it composes a range of – 336 miles in the city, 456 miles on the highways, and 384 miles combined.

Due to the inclusion of the most powerful engine in the competition, the Ram 1500 TRX achieves the dullest mpg figures. The newest Ford F-150 Raptor possesses the largest fuel capacity. The Toyota Tundra ensures the highest range.

Interior
8.0/10

The interior of the new Sierra 1500 Limited Denali is designed keeping the driver in mind. The buttons and infotainment screen are effortlessly in reach and offer easy-to-use functions. The materials adopted on the dashboard and cabin elevate as we grow up to the trim levels. On the entry-level trims, it gets a single-tone interior finished in cloth upholstery. The SLE trim gets standard heated front seats. Things get really serious with the Denali as it gets a head-up display that exhibits information about the car when driving. Front row seats are funky and deliver a great amount of comfort. The Limited Denali gets a dual-tone cabin finished with various high-quality elements. On the door panel, it gets a cool brown and ash grey finish– similar to the cabin, that upholds a dark wood trim along with controls.

The driver seat and steering wheel control boast several adjustments. Back seats are armored with a heating function and can adopt three full-size adults with ease. Though the layout of the controls is okay. The climate system easily heats up and cools down the cabin. The interior lets in some engine noise, but the road noises are negligible. With standard configuration, the Sierra Denali offers 5.8 ft. of bed, but a 6.6 ft leg extension costs extra bucks.

The GMC logo finished in red comes with an option to illuminate the emblem. The Denali gets its badges all over the truck. Competition

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited Denali Crew Cab vs. 2023 Ford F-150

With $10000 extra, the Ford F-150 is bringing more power. The Sierra 1500 Limited Denali appears with less power but proposes better mileage figures. The Raptor offers more ground clearance. The Denali has an extended wheelbase. Both cars have sufficient room for the front as well as rear seated passengers, but the 2023 GMC 1500 Denali has delivered more towing and payload capacity.

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited Denali Crew Cab vs. 2023 Ram 1500 TRX

The Ram 1500 TRX appears with more than double horsepower with it. A bit shorter than the TRX, the all-new 1500 Denali proposes more – Ground Clearance, Payload, Towing capacity, and mileage figures. The TRX is the fastest to catch a 0-60. The 2023 Sierra Denali has a larger crew bed and an extended wheelbase. The 2023 TRX offers more ground clearance

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited Denali Crew Cab vs. 2023 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro

The 2023 Tundra TRD Pro has more power and torque figures, but the Denali steers with faster acceleration. Both trucks run with parallel top speeds. The 2023 Denali seems a better option than the Tundra TRD Pro as it provides a good combination – of fuel economy, a longer wheelbase, and more payload capacity. The 2023 TRD Pro is good at towing capacity. The Interior of the Denali looks comparatively nicer.

Final Verdict

The 1500 Limited Denali is the top model of the Sierra line-up. The engine is responsive and powerful, but if the shopper wishes to have more power - the Ultimate trim is for them. The Interior is decent looking, but the materials used in it are lit. The infotainment system is easy to use. Suspensions are well-working. The Exterior feels premium with chrome accents. One of the highest payload and towing capacities in the segment. Overall it's a good value for your money.
