Overview
The Ford Taurus was the first product from the Blue Oval after it decided to turn around its affair due to the hefty losses around 1979. After its launch, the mid-size sedan gradually grew into a full-size sedan and helped the American auto giant achieve one of the several milestones under its wings. With the Taurus, Ford brought in new trends in the segment such as a grille-less bottom-breathing intake for the engine and a more streamlined and aerodynamic design. However, the sedan is all set to be phased out soon and has been neglected by the brand for over 5 years in a row now. Yet, it still looks handsome and offers a silent and comfortable cabin.
The 2018 Ford Taurus comes with no significant changes except for the deletion of the turbo four-pot motor. Powering the sedan is a standard 3.5-liter V6 motor that puts out a maximum of 288 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque. On the inside, the car feels quite dated with an aging design and it doesn’t like being pushed too hard. Also, the performance-focused SHO model does get a twin-turbo V6 but it still lacks the excitement that its peers have to offer. With a base price tag of $27,690, the sedan rivals the Honda Accord, the Toyota Camry, and the Chrysler 300 Touring sedan.
