... I now am trying to have the transmission replaced but I have been waiting due to the transmissions being on back order. Someone at the dealership said buick was remodeling the transmissions for this particular car (I cant remember the exact word she used) but to me it seems as if this car should have a recall if people are having transmissions just quit on them like this. Yes I have heard of others with this same car having a similar issue. So in a nutshell this car will eventually need aRead More

I was driving my 2015 verano on the highway going about 75 MPH in the fast lane. My car just turn completely off like I had ran out of gas, but I had 3/4 of a tank of gas. It was very scary I had a 18 Wheeler driving behind me blowing his horn thank God I was going down hill. I took my carRead More

In the compact sedan market, Buick’s Verano has started to lose its popularity. While it comes with its revered set of strengths, the direct rivals deliver better performance at a similar or diminutively higher price. Nonetheless, the vehicle’s impressive safety scores and high-reliability quotient continue to attract some buyers. In the current iteration, the 2015 Verano has 47 complaints and is yet to be recalled by the brand. Most of the sedan’s problems deal with its electrical system, while some buyers have also been irked by its mechanical issues. Considering its sales of around 32,000 units, the American option seems to perform pleasantly. However, what are its core problems and how does it compete with the likes of the Acura ILX, the Audi A3, and the Mercedes-Benz CLA Class? Let’s find out.

2015 Buick Verano User Complaints and Problems

Electric System Complaints

  • Failure of side detection system: Among the 2015 Buick Verano problems, several buyers of the sedan have reported the “Service Side Detection System” message appearing randomly on the information cluster. As a result, all related functionality including the blind-spot monitor fails to perform its intended operation, which can be potentially hazardous when the vehicle is in motion. The problem occurs due to possible corrosion of the sensors from water intrusion. A similar problem has also been noted with the Verano’s corporate sibling, the Chevrolet Cruze.
  • Electrical system malfunction: The 2015 Buick Verano electrical problems are not highly recurring. Unexpectedly, buyers have reported all the electrical systems to work erratically. These include the inability of the speedometer and tachometer failing to provide information, the warning lights illuminating, the radio system cutting out, and the screen losing power.

Mechanical Complaints

  • Failure of power steering: While making turns, buyers of the 2015 Buick Verano have reported the power steering failing. As a result, the steering system freezes, which makes it difficult to control the vehicle. Several cases of the problem have been reported on unofficial forums, while a couple of them can also be found on NHTSA.
  • Problem with the gear shift knob: Among the Buick Verano problems, a couple of buyers have reported that the gear shift release switch was broken. As a result, the vehicle cannot be put into “Park”. No untoward incidents have been reported from the malfunctioning have and neither the complaint is highly recurring.
  • Unintended acceleration: Without input, the 2015 Verano has been reported accelerating. Buyers have recorded the sedan to pick speed without the pedal being depressed, which causes the vehicle to go out of control. This has resulted in a crash in one case, where airbags did not deploy.

Safety Complaints

  • Issues with the airbag system: In a handful of cases, buyers of the 2015 Buick Verano have reported the airbag warning light illuminating randomly. While the warning light remains turned on, the underlying problem has not yet been determined. In a one-off case, one buyer has also reported a “Service Airbag” message displaying on the information cluster as soon as the vehicle was started.

2015 Buick Verano Recalls

There are no recalls for the 2015 Buick Verano yet.

Should you buy the 2015 Buick Verano?

With no entries in the 2015 Buick Verano recalls list and only a handful of registered complaints, the American compact sedan marks its place as a dependable proposition. It promises to spend more time on the road than in a warehouse and aptly fits the requirements of a class of family buyers. It is neatly appointed on the inside, vaunts a comfortable ride quality, and scores a cent-percent rating in the safety tests. Additionally, its accessible entry price makes it an enticing option and so, there is no reason that we find to veto the vehicle. However, if you want a sedan that is as popular as it is reliable, the 2015 Acura ILXcan be a fitting alternative.
