Overview

The 2016 BMW X1 SUV is a proud member of the subcompact SUV segment, locking horns with cars like the Audi Q3, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GLA 45, and the Infiniti QX30. Spread across a single unique trim, the BMW X1 starts off at a base price of MSRP $34,800. Its 2.0L Turbo Inline-4 and 8-Speed Automatic transmission give the SUV 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. With that, it manages a 0-60 of 6.3 seconds and boasts a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. Moving to fuel economy, the BMW X1 manages to get a combined EPA rating of 26 MPG, which is just average for the class, with most of its rivals reaching similar numbers.

It also has a ground clearance of 7.2 inchesÂ alongside a superior prowess to the 2016 X3 towing capacity.

Buying Advice

The disappointment of having only one trim will fade when you see there are plenty of packages that can definitely make a difference. We usually go for the sporty packages here but seeing how quick the 2016 BMW X1 is we would just go for the “Premium package”, which provides premium quality features like lumbar support, the universal garage door opener, auto-dimming rearview mirror and keyless entry system.
