... at 500 miles. All electronics work as expected. I Wish I could say the same for the $105k Audi E Tron SUV I purchased. There was a minor paint issue that needed repair and was completed with 3 separate visits, but that is a dealer problem. My huge issue is with the MMI (Multi Media) which never seems to work correctly. If you know about EVs, you know thatRead More

... a time. My last car was able to program M-F so I could set it and forget it. It's a small bother but, I do miss it. I drive about 80-125 miles a day and even with my last hybrid, I was visiting the local gas station twice a week. Now I just plug in when I get home and let the solar panels on my roof do their thing. Even with all this driving, IRead More

... to leave a good review, I have to be honest about my experience. The range was deeply affected by heating and cooling. I drove it fine for the first 8 months but out of no where I got the dreaded electronic malfunction warning light on my dash and the car died. Audi was so backed up on services when I got it towed there they couldn’t even look at it for a week. There were no loanersRead More

The rising demand for the electric luxury Sportback in the global market has been one of the primary reasons for Audi to introduce its dynamic E-Tron with a base price of $65,900, making it really challenging for its close rivals like the Tesla Model X with a base market value of $1,04,990, and the Jaguar I-Pace with a starting price of $69,850. Apart from these two, the E-Tron has another potential rival like the Mercedes Benz EQC electric with a starting price of $1,24,300.

If the reports are to be believed, the vehicle penetrated the automobile market by increasing the sales volume by 57.5% higher than the previous year and drew revenue by selling 81,894 units in 2021. In spite of such popularity, the vehicle’s reputation came under risk with the registration of 5 recalls and 10 complaints on the NHTSA’s website. There were complaints about the failure of the vehicle’s antilock braking system (ABS), and also had issues with its Electronic Stability Control (ESC), due to which the brand had to finally issue a recall for the damaged parts too.

Electrical Problems

  • Engine stalling issue

Most of the E-Tron owners have found serious issues with the car’s engine that often stops working and gets stalled in the middle of the road. Such issues show up when either the electric battery runs out of charge thereby stalling the engine, or when any other battery issues crop up stopping the vehicle’s engine to perform normally. Such hazards have to be rectified by either repairing or changing the battery.

  • Air cooler malfunction due to battery issue

Battery issues might stop the air cooler to perform normally when the vehicle is in motion. Such issues frequently stop the driver and the passengers to adjust the interior temperature to their own comfort. Lack of air circulation may be a reason of suffocation for the passengers especially when the battery is heated up, henceforth such electrical issues should be inspected and fixed. If needed they should be replaced with newer ones.

  • Coolant leakage in the front motor affecting the electric motor

Collant leakage is common within E-Trons, affecting the front motor that stops functioning normally. With the front motor malfunctioning, the electric battery-powered motor stops working due to significant power loss stalling the vehicle in the middle of the road. The manufacturer should address the issue and fix it soon.

Structural Problems

  • Car roof leakage

Significant leakage in the car roof can be a serious issue as it passes water into the car cabin creating serious damage to the electrical car engine. Such instances can act as a catalyst to set the vehicle’s engine on fire, triggering fatal injury to the passengers. Such structural problems should be addressed and if needed should be repaired.

Engine and Mechanical Problems

  • Powertrain issues

Faulty powertrain issues are a common problem in most of the E-Tron vehicles causing inconvenience to the drivers, whenever the car engine halts. The vehicle’s powertrain malfunctions when it disconnects from the main electrical motor due to some internal fault bringing the brakes and electrical steering to halt. These problems require an inspection followed by a fix.

Should You Prefer Buying a 2021 Audi E-Tron?

The E-Tron has been one of the most popularly sold vehicles due to its electric power charged feature, making it better than any conventional diesel/gas driven vehicles. The fuel efficient nature of the vehicle is a sincere cause for the 2021 Audi E-Tron lovers to take interest in the resale market price of the car.

However, the engine and battery issues were a serious threat to the brand for some time. Apart from that the car’s faulty ABS/ESC system and malfunctioning airbag gave a subsequent blow to the car’s reputation. In fact, some Audi loers feared that this might be the prime time for its close competitors like Benz and Tesla to claim its market stand. But Audi, poured cold water in their thoughts and proved the speculations of the Audi lovers completely wrong by organizing a recall for the faulty parts and asked the dealers to replace or repair it for free of cost.

So, in our opinion, buying an E-tron is worthy for the respective year, only if the vehicle is free from those issues that affected the brand’s integrity for the respective year, by elevating its status to the same popularity it had earlier.
