Overview

The 2021 Tesla Model Y comes with a newly added Standard Range trim and now owns a 7-seater option in its specs. Having no change as such in terms of mechanical upgrades, design philosophy, and interior space technology, it still has got plenty to offer to this market.

Featuring a 3-trim lineup of Standard Range, Long Range, and Performance, the 2021 Model Y MSRP can be an expense of $41,190-$64,190 this season. Having said that, it simply translates to the fact that the range-leader Model Y Performance 2021 will cost you $23,000 more than the base Standard Range for enhanced specs and assets.

We Recommend

With a perfect mix of desirable features and power surge in comparison to the rest of the lineup for its cost, the 2021 Model Y Long Range stands out to be the most prominent Model Y 2021 configuration.

Up against the likes of the Audi-eTron 0-60 MPH prowess, Jaguar I-Pace's interior tech-ends, and Mustang Mach-E sprint, the Model Y does not shy away from showing its sheer dominance. And it is further complemented by its leading range reach of up to 318 miles without compromising on that spirited throttle.

2021 Tesla Model Y Electric for sale

The 2021 Model Y is available with lease deals starting at $478/month for 24 months alongside a signing due of $9,000.

For budget-oriented buyers, the used 2021 Model Y can be availed of with a base price of $58,995. Going for model years like the 2022 Model Y could be a matter of $69,700 and Tesla Model Y 2020 can cost as much as $59,824 along with a listing of up to 63 in total.

Buying Advice

The choice between the two depends on what you value more: the Long Range's longer range and longer capacity, or the Performance's faster acceleration. In most cases, we suggest the Long Range for EV shoppers. Aside from having decent performance, it has an impressive range of 326 miles, and it is reasonably priced.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2021 Tesla Model Y is an all-electric, mid-sized luxury SUV built on Tesla's Model 3 platform. The EV's spacious cargo space will reinforce Tesla's position as a strong competitor in the luxury segment and extend its technology lead in electric vehicles. In addition, the new Tesla Model Y comes with an additional trim-- Standard Range Tesla Model Y (which is as of date discontinued) and an option of configuring it with a third row. Its 0-60 mph and stopping distance results are unparallel owing to its smooth powertrain and low curb weight when compared to the likes of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E, 2021 Audi e-Tron Sportback, and 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge. Being new in the segment JD Power is yet to rate it on reliability, however, we feel that the Model Y 2021 has great practicality and reliability due to its low running cost.

Speaking of Ownership cost, the 2021 Tesla Model Y Standard  Total Cost to Ownership can be broken down into 3 main costs- Maintenance Cost, Repair cost, and Depreciation cost. As of now, we do not have accurate data on the TCO, however, the 2021 Tesla Model Y Long Range is priced at $60,440. The Tesla Model Y this year comes with some packages and options as well that you can configure at an additional cost like the ADAS feature - Full Self-Driving Capability available at $10,000, Seven Seat Interior available at $3,000, 20-inch induction wheels marked at $2,000 and a Tow Hitch,to increase its towing capability, available at $1,000.

The seating upholstery and dashboard design have two color options that you can go for - Black & White Leatherette or All Black Leatherette.

It has some unique creature comforts such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, simulated leather upholstery, and heated front and rear seats as standard which make the cabin plush.
