Toyota Tundra stands its ground in a segment filled with the most advanced and new pickup trucks from the likes of Ford, RAM, and Chevrolet. Amid a full-fledged revolution in the full-size pickup segment, the Tundra is still competitive owing to its good ol’ reliability and off-road prowess. The 2019 Toyota Tundra CrewMax carries the legacy forward, attracting new and old-time Toyota enthusiasts likewise. That being said, 2019 Tundra carries out its towing and hauling duties without any fuss. Newer rivals may offer better features and capability, but Toyota’s reliability outclasses every other rival. Still, the 2019 Toyota Tundra has its share of problems like any other large pickup truck.

User Complaints and Problems

Electrical Problems

  • Problematic radio- Radio malfunctions are a common problem in most Toyota vehicles. On multiple occasions, owners found it difficult to connect with the hands-free Bluetooth system, as it disconnects automatically, by restarting the radio again. Such problems occur when the radio software is not updated for some time. Toyota should ask the dealers to update the software accordingly in the cars of the respective owners facing such issues.

Engine and Mechanical Problems

  • Fuel pump issue due to low pressure- Low pressure in the fuel pump might stop the vehicle’s engine to receive the required amount of oil for running spontaneously. Such type of issues can possibly trigger when there’s a leakage in the fuel pump leading to fuel loss. The respective brand should inform the dealers to repair or replace the fuel pump to resolve the problem.
  • Problematic service brakes- Problematic service brakes have been noticed by a few Tundra owners accompanied by vehement vibration. Such issues occur when the hardly engaged service brakes create friction between the braking calipers and the wheel rims. Hard engagement of service brakes repeatedly may cause damage to the wheel rims and the braking calipers, ultimately leading to wearing it out too early.

Safety Problems

  • Non-deployment of the airbags- When the airbag retractors fail to identify the necessity of deploying airbags during a crash event, unfortunately, the airbags might not deploy. During such instances, the passengers and the vehicle inmates can sustain a fatal life-risking injury, in the crash impact is severe. Therefore, the dealers must consider the issues with seriousness and get the faulty airbags replaced and repaired with new ones.

Structural Problems

  • Vibrating tires- User complaint includes that the truck’s tire vibrates unnecessarily on high-pickups, frequently compromising the wheel balance on multiple occasions. Such issues continued to bother the drivers even after replacing the tires. There’s a significant threat of causing road accidents when the vehicle is in motion with its imbalanced tires, therefore the issue needs to be addressed and resolved soon.

Miscellaneous Problems

  • Incorrect towing capacity label tag- Multiple Tundra owners have found the wrongly labeled maximum towing capacity label tag to be a major problem in pick-up trucks. The incorrect label tag might confuse the owners to estimate the exact amount of payload to be added on the cargo bed that does not exceed the maximum cargo carrying capacity of the truck. Toyota should ensure that the respective dealers are going to make re-label the wrong payload carrying capacity tag with the correct ones soon.

Should You Buy a 2019 Toyota Tundra?

Finding a suitable replacement for the 2019 Toyota Tundra in the pick-up truck segment is quite challenging in the respective year. However, the vehicles’ faulty airbag issues and non-permanent label tags depicting maximum payload capacity could be a reason for the Tundra owners to doubt its popularity. However, Toyota issued a quick recall and asked the dealers to repair and fix all those problematic issues that bothered the car’s market reputation for the respective year. The strategic move of Toyota helped interested buyers to purchase the fully revived Tundra who were ready to afford it at a resale price tag. If someone is willing to purchase the vehicle from the respective year that has zero recall and no complaints registered on the NHTSA website against its reliability, we would ask them to hurry up, before someone else claims it.
