Reigning in the market as the most affordable sedan, the Nissan Versa has been a delight for the buyers. However, with its 2020 MY, the subcompact option undergoes an impending overhaul and comes with a new design, a better set of features, and an enticing interior build. But compared to its predecessors, the vehicle adds to its likability with its added reliability and safety scores. For a sedan that kickstarts an entirely new generation, the 2020 Nissan Versa is rather hassle-free. It has just 21 complaints and 2 recalls, which feel diminutive compared to its sales volume. In its segment, it competes with the likes of the Ford Fiesta, the Hyundai Accent, and the Toyota Yaris.

2022 Nissan Versa User Complaints and Problems

Safety Complaints

  • Improper deployment of airbags: In a couple of cases of the 2020 Nissan Versa, buyers have reported the airbags to deploy improperly. While in one case the airbags deployed without any impact or incidence, the other complainant noticed the airbag inflating violently, causing an injury.

Electric System Complaints

  • Underlying electric concerns: The 2020 Nissan Versa electrical problems are more widespread than any other issue. In more than a couple of cases, buyers have reported the warnings light illuminating unexpectedly. While there are no issues with the vehicle, the continuous illumination forces the buyers to shoulder over to the side of the road.
  • Issues with the infotainment system: In one distinct case, a buyer has also reported the radio screen to function erratically. The screen is recorded to remain without power when the vehicle is turned on and this has happened over a dozen times. While there is only one known case, the probability of the issue happening in other units remains excessively high.

Mechanical Complaints

  • Improper functioning of the transmission system: The Nissan Versa transmission problems are majorly concerned with the CVT unit. Complainants have reported the system shuddering excessively, which leads to hesitation in the sedan’s performance. In one case, it has also caused the vehicle’s power to reduce, causing it to stall.
  • Miscellaneous mechanical complaints: In some cases, buyers have also registered variegated mechanical complaints. While in one case the vehicle stalled inadvertently, another complainant recorded the failure of the braking system.

Should you buy the 2020 Nissan Versa?
