I then took it to a different dealership for a third try, one week later the issue resurfaced. Now after placing my life in danger for all these months they give options for them to buy it back, replace it, or I keepRead More

Marking the beginning of the end of the second generation of the vehicle, the 2019 Nissan Rogue continues to be a potent offering in the compact SUV market. It upholds the practical and comfortable capabilities it has been revered for and comes with a comprehensive set of safety features, which guarantee dependability. However, the SUV has had its fair share of complaints and problems. In the current iteration, the Rogue has 197 complaints and 1 recall listed against its name. While there are two callbacks listed on the NHTSA website, the recall relating to the engine is concerned with the Nissan Rogue Hybrid vehicle. The 2019 Nissan Rogue price starts at $25,000, allowing the vehicle to fall in a similar ballpark as the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Honda CR-V, and the Mazda CX-5. Though the number of grievances does not seem worrisome for a vehicle that has sold over 350,000 units, its electrical system niggles including the erratic functioning of its automatic emergency braking system has irked some buyers.

2019 Nissan Rogue User Complaints and Problems

Safety Complaints

  • Improper deployment of airbags: In the list of 2019 Nissan Rogue issues, some buyers have experienced the airbags not functioning as intended. While non-deployment of the airbags in case of a crash is the major cause of concern, one buyer observed the front airbag inflating unexpectedly. Both situations have caused injuries to the occupants, making them a safety concern.

Electrical System Complaints

  • Random activation of AEB functionality: The 2019 Nissan Rogue brake problems stem from the malfunctioning of the forward collision-avoidance system. In a considerably large number of cases, buyers of the SUV have reported the FCA system to falsely identify the risk of a crash and activate the automatic emergency braking system. As a result, the vehicle comes to a halt, which can increase the risk of a crash.
  • Failure of the backup camera: In some cases, buyers of the 2019 Rogue have also reported the rearview camera failing inadvertently. Complainants have noted the inability of the camera to display an image. While there are not many listed complaints, Nissan has introduced a recall, referenced by NHTSA ID 19V654000, to mitigate the recurrence of the issue.
  • Other electrical concerns: Among other problems, there are a couple of electric system niggles talked about by the users. These include the radio system resetting unexpectedly, while other concerns relate to the changes in the system’s volume without any input. In a couple of cases, users also complained about their inability to control the vehicle’s climate.

Mechanical Complaints

  • Engine failure: The Nissan Rogue engine problems deal with its failure. In a handful of cases, complainants have recorded the vehicle shuddering excessively, before losing its power. As a result, the vehicle comes to a halt.
  • Problems with the suspension unit: The 2019 Nissan Rogue warning malfunction includes the random illumination of the check engine light. While the warning messages occur frequently, in some cases, they characterized problems with the front struts. In a one-off case, the front axle was also found to be fractured, which affected the vehicle’s control.

Due to a change in settings, the backup camera might not display an image when in use and might cause a similar issue when the camera is used next. As a result, affected units might fail to comply with federal laws.

Dealers will update the backup camera software, free of charge. The recall began on 11th November 2019.

Should you buy the 2019 Nissan Rogue?

Absolutely! The Nissan Rogue is a high-volume sales product and is bound to have its fair share of criticism. While it has around 200 listed complaints, not all units of the SUV suffer from similar kinds of issues. So, if buyers perform due diligence while purchasing the vehicle, and can ensure the proper functioning of the AEB and FCA systems, the Japanese vehicle provides ample value for the money spent. However, if you do wish to look for other options as well, the 2019 Mazda CX-5 can be a handy alternative.
