The 2019 Acura TLX gets two engine options according to customer requirements. The base inline-4 engine is coupled with 8-speed Automatic transmission. It produces 206hp and 182lb-ft of torque. A more powerful V6 engine is also on the block to choose from which produces 290hp and 267lb-ft torque. All engines are configured to a standard front-wheel-drive setup with an optional AWD setup.
The V6 is coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission and gets a Super Handling AWD system capable of sending power to a single wheel if needed. The acceleration capability of TLX stands neck to neck with the competition. The sedan can sprint 0-60 MPH in 7.1 seconds with the base engine underneath. It can cover the same benchmark in 5.7 seconds with the V6 block.

This class of sedans showcases some interesting power numbers and acceleration. The fastest of the lot are Kia Stinger and Genesis G70. But, with the V6 powerhouse underneath, the TLX can sprint the best-in-class 0-60 MPH. A good power-weight ratio delivers impressive power and steady thrust. It accelerates fast and power is put down the wheels very efficiently.
How well does the 2019 Acura TLX handle?
Handling is one of the most impressive points of any Acura car. Their flagship sedan equips a standard front-wheel-drive setup. The FWD is complemented with rear-wheel steering that improves agility and handling while reducing the turning circle. And this makes Acura easy to maneuver in the city. Acura has a tight body control due to its good suspension setup and this gives confidence on highways
Though, if you are looking for something robust on all road conditions, the all-wheel-drive trim level is the one to go for. The system can send power to all wheels individually that generates desired traction on all road types. Also, the A-Spec package comes with re-tuned suspension and steering for confident handling and a sporty outlook. It significantly improves the already good handling of this car. Even at very high speeds, the car feels in control with a minimum wobble.
2019 Acura TLX Braking Performance
Braking is another paradigm important to sedans, especially high-speed sports sedans like the 2019 Acura TLX. Acura has ensured top-notch performance and athletic handling. The TLX gets a high-performance disc braking system ensuring good stopping power without any loss of traction. The front wheels get 12.6-inch disc rotors, while the rear gets a 12.2-inch rotor size. Performance packages offer a more dynamic and intelligent setup. The new TLX weighs around 3616 pounds, lighter than the previous-gen.

The new Acura TLX is on the lighter side of the class. The braking system is effective and facilitates minimum stopping distance. Competitors like Kia Stinger and Genesis G70 feature bigger disc rotors, but the stopping distance is not that impressive due to heavy curb weight.
