Overview

The 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Sedan is a compact sedan offered in 5 trims, starting off at a base MSRP of $15,695. For that price, it mainly competes with the Ford Focus Sedan, the Mazda 3 Sedan, and the Hyundai Elantra Sedan. Between the 5 trims, the 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer Sedan offers 3 powertrains. The base engine is a 2.0L Inline-4 engine making 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. If more power is required, there is also a 168 horsepower-making 2.4L Inline-4 engine. Both engines can be had either with a CVT or 5-speed manual transmission. Also available is the 2.0L turbocharged Inline-4 engine that puts out 237 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque. The Mitsubishi Lancer Sedan reaches 60 mph from zero in 9.1 seconds on its base engine, which gets pumped up to 7.7 seconds with the 168-horsepower making engine and further drops to 5.8 with the turbocharged engine. Depending on the powertrain, the Mitsubishi Lancer Sedan can manage a combined fuel economy between 20 and 29 mpg. While we're on the topic of choices, the 4 striking colors the Mitsubishi Lancer Sedan comes in really pull you towards itself.

Buying Advice

As a general rule, we recommend upgrading to the top trim level, the Ralliart, which comes with all of the features available on base trim levels plus additional features like rain-sensing wipers, leather seats, and a 9-speaker sound system. The engine also puts out more powerful and better acceleration times.
