Overview

The 2018 Mini Hardtop 2 Door Hatchback is a subcompact hatchback offered in 2 trims, starting off at a base MSRP $21,600. For that price, it mainly competes with the Fiat 500 and goes indirectly against the Chevrolet Spark and the Honda Fit which come with 4 doors. Between 2 trims, the Mini Hardtop 2 Door offers two powertrains. It is a 1.5L Inline-3 engine making 134 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. If more power is required, there is a 189 horsepower-making 2.0L turbocharged inline 4 engine on offer. Both powertrains are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a 6-speed automatic transmission as optional.

The Mini Hardtop 2 Door reaches 60 mph from zero in 7.4 seconds on its base engine which gets pumped to 6.5 seconds on the 2.0L engine. Depending on the powertrain, the Mini Hardtop 2 Door can manage a combined fuel economy between 26 and 32 mpg. While we’re on the topic of choices, the 12 striking colors the Mini Hardtop 2 Door comes in really pull you towards itself.

Buying Advice

With two trims and multiple configurations, we recommend the S which comes with a more powerful engine and does justice to its sticker price. On top of that, dual center-mounted exhaust tips, run-flat tires, hood scoops, etc are what the S gets as standard.
