Overview

The trend of luxury sedans has been increasing a lot these days and they have been able to fulfill the demands of the public in a good way, which has played an important role in their continuous rise in the market. A car of the Mercedes brand soon rose to the charts and made its name in the prestigious group of a blend of luxury sedans and coupe, which is none other than the 2016 version of Mercedes AMG CLS63.

Buying Advice

As the features of this trim are already laid upon in a well-documented manner, it is solely an individual's choice whichever he/she chooses, but considering all the magnificent features of the car and considering the two different drive modes which the car has, it is quite evident that this car is a good choice for those who wish to have a relaxed and memorable ride in long journeys.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

Officially, it's marketed as a four-door coupe and here, in AMG guise, the CLS promises battleship like firepower. The owners promise that this car yields a superpower performance as it is known to accelerate to 100 kph in just 4.1 seconds, which is indeed commendable. Its 5.5-liter turbocharged mighty V8 engine provides immense power to the vehicle and hence it is one of the most special and powerful cars ever produced by Mercedes-Benz.

Features

With a staggering price tag, this car promises a lot to the customers. This trim model of the Mercedes Benz CLS class is one of the best and it is conferred with the AMG specific all-wheel drive, suspension, transmission tuning, and steering. Other certain additional features which make this car a special one are the AMG sports exhaust system and available carbon fiber trunk spoiler, which are specific for the AMG models.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

The AMG CLS has a surprisingly commendable fuel economy, considering how powerful it is. As per EPA standards, in the city, this Coupe-style sedan will give you a gas mileage of 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg in the highway. This brings the combined mileage to about 18 mpg, which is quite decent for a two-ton-plus, 500+ plus horsepower machine.

Interior
8.0/10

The CLS-Class's evocative roof line is one of its most distinguishing characteristics, but it's not without its drawbacks. Headroom for the rear seats is reduced as a result, making them ill-suited for adult passengers. -Edmunds

The Mercedes has always been the trendsetter for all other cars once they appear on the scene and the AMG class is no different. The Mercedes-Benz AMG delivers with a flowing, elegant cabin and plush supportive seating. The heated seats and leather upholstery are an ultimate example of luxury, and the COMAND infotainment system is surely the best in business.

The AMG CLS adds a distinctively sporty look to the cabin with unique racy sport seats. Rear seats could do with a little more space, which is disappointingly cramped for a car that costs upwards of a hundred grand. Cargo space is also similarly mediocre, with just 15.3 cubic feet. It is also seen that the audio system significantly compromises trunk space.

Its signature roofline and shapely greenhouse give the car a flowing, uninterrupted form that extends rearward to a new, more muscular fastback profile. -Kelley Blue Book

Mercedes has always been known for their quality design of their vehicles, and hence the CLS-Class is no exception. The exterior styling lets you know that this car means business. It is designed to replicate speed and precision, and it manages to do so in a subtle way. Some of the exterior features include a sliding sunroof which allows more sun to shine inside, and full LED headlamps to illuminate the road ahead. The diamond black grille adds a great zeal and soothes the eye to a great extent. Apart from this, the 18-inch alloy wheels add to the all-wheel drive and give a smooth ride to the passenger.

Mercedes Benz AMG CLS63 vs Audi RS7

Both these cars are luxury sedans shaped in a Coupe-like fashion. However, in terms of engine capacity and fuel economy, the Mercedes pulls ahead of the Audi. The RS7 has phenomenally good interior and cargo space though, much better than the CLS. Also, considering the performance, the Audi seems to be better of the two.

Mercedes Benz AMG CLS63 vs Mercedes Benz AMG E63

The recently released E63 proves to be a tough competitor for the Mercedes AMG 63. The slightly lower price tag of the E63 is accompanied by a slightly smaller length and a non-unique body-style (there is wagon version of the E-class AMG, which is actually the one we would prefer over any of these other cars- Ed). In terms of engine and performance, you will be hard pressed to find any difference between the two. Moreover, the CLS is based on the old E-type class of vehicles and the E63 provides a new taste with a blend of new technologies into it, which undoubtedly makes it the better choice.

Mercedes Benz AMG CLS63 vs BMW M6 Gran Coupe

Though, both the cars prove to be similar, each has something different to offer. Both are V8 powered 4-door Coupe-style sedans, but the difference lies in their wheel drive configuration. The Mercedes is a bit more agile than the BMW, with the former reaching 100 kph in 0.5 seconds faster than the BMW. The BMW offers far more safety features though, and considering these aspects, the BMW gets the nod as the better car among the two.

Final Verdict

The Mercedes Benz AMG CLS 63S proves to a wonderful vehicle for people looking for a unique large luxury car. However, cars like this one are all about style and luxury. For performance, look elsewhere. For the ultimate expression of luxury and power, you will love this car.
