Overview

An era of premium and exotic cabins has started to bloom for the first time in the 21st century in the midst of SUV chaos. It is evident by the fact that the auto industry is bringing a host of packages with relative pricing on the cost sheet. And if that is the real trend then you can’t expect the Germans not to be among the front runners.

Buying Advice

This question may not be in context for there is no trim as such but if you are more concerned whether it is worth investing or not then the answer will definitely be a positive one. Just the sketch work lets us guide through its repository and unbelievable charm. Comfort, convenience, performance, and that too with feel and attitude, all at once can be experienced at its disposal. Safety and handling are other added features that have been a cornerstone in the segment. If the newer modal comes even close to what it has been in the past, it will be a class to own.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 is one of the few in this segment who have reached the pinnacle and still striving for improvement if left any. But the path is not easy to travel as it drives in the lanes of the Alfa Romeo Giulia, BMW 2-Series M235i XDrive Gran Coupe, and the Infiniti Q50. All of them with comparative performance figures and handling expressions will pose a great challenge and it will be curious to see which one comes out with flying colors.

Features

The Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 will likely continue its limited status with no trim strata even in 2022. But that limited character is not in linearity with its unlimited access and offers that have been impressive since its inception. There are multiple features that can be sought to come again in the 2022 model and the first in line is its dynamics pursuit that includes the names such as AMG Dynamic Select, ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist, and ATTENTION ASSIST.

Keeping any single one of them out of the scene would be to demean the effort invested in them. The ECO Start/Stop system and 3-stage Electronic Stability Program are also among a few of the advanced tech-ends which can’t be overlooked considering their practicality and everyday necessity.

The interior engagement inside the AMG A 35 will be most probably at par with its predecessor as it has already been deluged with inspiring and exciting complexities. The MBUX voice assistant is one of those most likened features which has grabbed too much attention for its easy commanding, therefore, it does have its presence felt inside the cabin in the future as well along with an optional MB Navigation system.

The standard layouts such as the Mercedes ME connect Assist Services and Mercedes ME connect services are also not going to leave the realm for now as it seems. Apart from the functions, it is equally important to gauge the role call of extensions. And fortunately, we might see most of them hitting the market with the same description but different price tags. Be it the Driver Assistance Package, Multimedia Package, Premium Package, or Parking Assistance Package, their radiations are too bright to be seized.

Which Trim should you buy?

2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 Sedan Release Date

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 will be launched by October 2021 most probably. But then Covid-19 is still next door. So, we will keep the dates fixed with a buffer period of two to three months which translates to the end of this year at the max.

Fuel Economy
8.0/10

Generally, it is not something one would prefer to look at when luxury or premium exotic touches are the priorities but even if someone does it, he/she won’t be disheartened as the Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 is capable of returning a mileage of 22 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highways, and 25 mpg overall. Moreover, a 13.5-gallon fuel tank also aids in achieving a range coverage of up to 391 miles. Since these figures are that of the 2021 model, we don’t see them being changed in the newer chassis at all.

The AMG A 35 will be as impressive as its rivals like the BMW 2-Series M235i XDrive Gran Coupe as they share commonalities to a large extent but it is that same fuel tank with a bigger capacity of 20-gallons with which the Q50 leads the range scale. A meter of 520 miles by the Q50 is closely followed by the powertrain of the Alfa Romeo Giulia with better mileage. So if naming one favorite among them it has to be the Giulia for its overall practicality and balanced approach.

Interior
7.0/10

The 2021 AMG A 35 has shown the market that it holds the reputation of being the epitome of interior accents and premium feel. The upcoming all-new Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 will at least follow the same lead, if not better. The preexisting 3-position memory functioned power-assisted seats along with Dual-zone automatic climate control will most likely continue with their presence in the new cabin.

Not just that, the racing-inspired adjustable steering column has been so fascinating that engineers will hardly make any change in that arena. If retaining continues like that then MB-Tex upholstery dominance on and over seating is much anticipated. In addition to that, the level of sophistication is expected to be sky-high with access to speculative tech assists like the SmartKey and Cruise control at your disposal.

The predictive figures highlight its practicality to seat 5 passengers quite comfortably with easy ingress and egress. Spaciousness will be perfectly catered to along with flexible space management via 40/20/40-split folding rear seats if the past arrangement is preferred with little or no changes.

We can even assume that the trunk volume will remain the same only. As far as rivals are concerned, all of them are pretty much close to one another with parallel legroom and headroom throughout their respective cabins. But it is those premium feel and technology package which might be lacking in them that has already been bestowed in the AMG A 35. Some of the expected features are:

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • 3-position memory functioned power-assisted seats
  • MB-Tex upholstery
  • Racing-inspired adjustable steering column
  • 40/20/40-split folding rear seats
  • SmartKey
  • AMG Performance Seat Package
  • Optional heated front seats

How intuitive is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG A35 Sedan’s infotainment unit?

There has been no concrete information but the all-new Mercedes-Benz AMG A35 will probably have the same package as that of its current predecessor meaning one will be entitled to the MBUX Multimedia System along with an 8-speaker audio unit to make sure that musical notes are echoing loud enough. The 10.25" touchscreen will also be available attached to the dashboard. On top of that, the replica will relish the standard Mercedes ME connect services through which he/she gets an opportunity to experience the service of Online Map Update, Live Traffic Information, and Remote Vehicle Configuration.

The intriguing features like the Maintenance Management, Telediagnostics, and Over-the-air software updates will be also there for utilization in the standard Mercedes ME connect Assist Services. Apart from these, there will be an additional package namely Multimedia Package for which one has to spend somewhat around $1,295 but the higher side of it is that it will empower one with the MB Navigation and Augmented video for navigation. Some of the expected features are:

  • 10.25" touchscreen
  • Remote Vehicle Configuration
  • Live Traffic Information
  • MBUX Multimedia System
  • 8-speaker audio unit
  • MB Navigation

Exterior
8.0/10

Never once a day has come when you can pinpoint a pothole in the panacea of designing language by Mercedes-Benz. The Germans have made a universal logo that is emblematic of the global economy. And that imagery will stay at its peak in the upcoming Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 as well. There have been chants that the 2022 model might have some extra trim addition in the preexisting color contrasts like the Cosmos Black metallic, Iridium Silver metallic, and Patagonia Red metallic. There could be a few upgrades but the likes of the black-accented 18-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheel will not fade away and that is why it is believed to be holding the 2022 chassis with high probability.

Along with these touches, it is assumed that one will be able to enhance those appeals with additional extensions like the AMG Night Package and AMG Aerodynamics Package costing some extra bucks. The splitter in the front and pairing of diffuser and spoiler in the rear will have their relevance amplified if the AMG Aerodynamics Package will be available and that enticing is predicted not to be reformulated again in the near future yet. All in all, it will be exemplary in all senses.

The boundary limits will remain somewhat close to what they have been to date. At the max, we could see a few-inch variation which will not be making any impact on its overall silhouette. The rivals, as per data, are comparable in numbers. This drives home the point that they will have relative handling dynamics and the supremacy will be swayed to one’s favor based on additional assists for maneuvering perspective. Even in that department, the Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 with its speculated Active Steering Assist and adaptive dynamics setup will not let anyone squeeze past itself easily. Some of the expected features are:

  • Front splitter
  • Rear Diffuser
  • Rear spoiler
  • 18-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheel
  • AMG Night Package
  • Patagonia Red metallic accent
  • 235/40R18 All-Season Tire

Safety
4.0/10

The 2021 model has already been so armed with readiness that we can’t see any major upgrade being introduced in the all-new Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35. All that might be left is the reintroduction of safety features like the Blind Spot Assist, 4-wheel Electronic Traction System, and ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist. The list goes on to include the mentions of the optional features as well like the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, PRE-SAFE PLUS, and Active Lane Keeping Assist. The rise of the Romans namely Route-based Speed Adaptation, Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function, and Evasive Steering Assist can also be viewed with the dawn of additional Driver Assistance Package.

Further, the premium stature is a bane and boon of the AMG A 35, both at the same time, as it does not allow itself to be crashed against walls for mere ratings but shunning such needs showcases its egoism and confidence with which it is being built continuously. A high crumple zone in the front and rear ensure that impact resilience is dissipated throughout the structure and this is further assisted by the High-strength/low-alloy panels in conjunction with the press-hardened sheets which surround the frame from top to bottom. So just like the active features, we guess the same for structure too to be imaged in the upcoming model. Some of the expected features are:

  • Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
  • PRE-SAFE PLUS
  • ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist
  • Blind Spot Assist
  • 4-wheel Electronic Traction System
  • Evasive Steering Assist
  • Route-based Speed Adaptation

2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 Sedan vs 2021 BMW 2-Series M235i XDrive Gran Coupe

The BMW and Mercedes-Benz rivalry is one of the closest ones to call as each has its own share of praise. Leveled at performance parameters, the storyline continues to be the same with the handling and cabin space management. Not just that, the interior engagement and ambiance are also at par with one other with almost no difference in price tag. Therefore, it is basically a win-win situation whichever is chosen as per one’s taste.

2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 Sedan vs 2021 Infiniti Q50

Though not the best mileage yet, the leader of the pack when it comes to range coverage, the Infiniti Q50 is quite a case and impressive until it confronts the immovable force of the Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35. High on interior accent, one’s involvement, safety, performance, and road presence, the AMG A35 is clearly a favorite one to prefer here. Apart from these gaps, both of them are comparable in their handling and spaciousness inside the cabin.

2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 Sedan vs 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia

It is the Alfa Romeo Giulia who does not get out of breath when dragging for a long length along with the best-in-class top-speed maneuvering. One of the best in terms of range as well, it is highly recommendable for an economic luxury but then we come to realize what the Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35 might be expensive yet worth considering and giving a shot. Safety assists are at their zenith in the AMG A 35 by a far mile. Thus, it is a matter of pure class and economic perspective, whichever suits you.

Final Verdict

Without a second doubt, it makes it to the top of the cart. A right blend of all features ranging from comfort to performance with refreshing accents, there is no loophole to find in it. The only negative one may point out is its price tag but then it is rightly said that nothing worthy of praise comes cheap and so does the Mercedes-Benz AMG A 35. Hence, one should go for it as soon as it is available.
