McLarens are not really known for elegant interiors but the GT Coupe quite makes the cut. The interiors are trimmed down to the T and you have just enough of everything that’s essential. The generous use of carbon fiber has provided the chassis pillars with immense strength and hence they are very slim. Thus the entire shell of the McLaren looks like a 360-degree glass case, which refreshes your mind with an extreme airy feeling and top-class visibility.
The McLaren comes in 3 distinct interior trims, the Standard, Premium, and Luxe variants. The Standard trim is done in Nappa leather and comes with interiors in jet black shade only. The Premium and Luxe are more or less the same. They both differ from the Standard trim by employing Alcantara and soft grain Aniline leather in place of Nappa leather and these two trims differ from each other in the view that the two-tone interiors in the Premium are contrasting, whereas in Luxe, the shades complement each other.
The AC vents and the boundaries of both the center console and infotainment system are outlined in a silver and piano black finish which looks understated, yet classy. The silver treatment on all the knobs has a grainy feel which is a very premium aesthetic. The center console is just about knobs. The interior also has space for a cargo bay, which sits atop the engine bay. Even this space gets a serene leather treatment.
There is no use of hard plastics whatsoever in the cabin. You also get to opt for an electrochromic roof which allows you to limit the sunlight entering the cabin to as low as 0.6%. The speakers jut out from the doors and give a unique look and definitely good sound too. To add to this good sound, the insulated glass prevents all outside engine noises disturbances from being heard inside the cabin.

It’s difficult to find the dimensions of these GT cars as they have swooping tailgates and only one row of usable seats. The Roma, Continental, and DB11 might identify as 4 seaters but the rear row is practically just good enough to stuff your laptop bag and other small luggage. The McLaren GT has a very deep trunk in the front which surprisingly, according to the data here, is the roomiest cargo space amongst the competition. Some of the key interior features are:
- Sport Leather/Metal-Look Steering Wheel
- Full Leatherette Headliner
- 10 way electrically adjustable seats with memory and heating function
- Proximity Key For Doors And Push Button Start
- Remote Keyless Entry w/Integrated Key Transmitter and Illuminated Entry
- HomeLink Garage Door Transmitter
- Dual Zone Front Automatic Air Conditioning
- Nappa Leather Seat Trim
- Memory Settings for Driver Seat and Door Mirrors
How Intuitive is the infotainment system on the McLaren GT Coupe
The infotainment system in the GT Coupe like all other McLarens is of an elongated rectangular shape which is a nightmare as the dimensions don't support the interface of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Hence, these functions are omitted from the system, which is a disappointment. Other than that, the system is not at all laggy and supports Bluetooth connectivity, FM radio, AUX input, and one can control the ambiance functions of the cabin or look for navigation on the infotainment system, or even set up the climate control. Some of the key features of the infotainment system are;
- McLaren 4-speaker audio system
- 7" portrait touch screen monitor w/12.3" TFT instrument cluster
- Regular Amplifier
- Concealed Diversity Antenna
- 2 LCD Monitors In The Front
- Turn-By-Turn Navigation Directions
