So essentially the McLaren 600LT Spider comes in just one variant with all the bells and whistles, prices for which start at around $256,500. Now, this is a very special car so the price is not that can justify its rarity. But for all the money you put down into McLaren’s account, you get a car that has a chassis made out of carbon fiber, has butterfly doors, looks absolutely insane, has a fire-breathing monster of an engine, and absolutely epic driving dynamics.

There is just one fully loaded trim the car comes in and that costs $256,500. For the money, you’re getting an ultra-rare car that can drive you crazy every time you floor the gas pedal. But if you’re willing to pay more, then there are so many optional extras available. But if you are not careful with the options list, they can add up to as much as 100 grand to the base price.

Fuel economy is certainly the last thing in your mind while purchasing a 200mph supercar. But still, there are a few of us who are concerned about Mother Earth and want to do the most we can to save her. Certainly for those, they can be happy that the 2021 McLaren 600LT is a bit better than those with a monstrous V8 or V10 under the hood in terms of fuel efficiency. 

The car has received an EPA rating of 15 mpg for the city, 22 mpg for the highway, and 18 MPG combined, which is not a lot but quite adequate by the supercar standards. The fuel tank is 19 gallons and while it is not a lot it still manages to provide the car with an above 400 miles range which is quite decent.

Here it is the most powerful 911 Turbo S which also happens to be the most fuel-efficient, but it's the Ferrari Portofino M which is the only proper GT car here that has the most driving range; thanks to its large fuel tank. McLaren 600LT offers a similar economy as the Ferrari but its small fuel tank hampers its overall driving range.

The interior of a car is maybe the most important part as it is where we as the owner will spend most of the time. So it is quite necessary that one doesn’t feel tired or non-enthusiastic while being inside a car. And just like every other supercar, the interior of the 2021 McLaren 600LT feels like a cockpit on four wheels. Everything looks like it has been designed keeping the driver’s comfort and ease of reach in mind. It is all a very snug cabin wrapped around the driver’s seat. 

A flat-bottomed steering wheel faces the driver, and the center stack is topped by a pair of circular air vents. Options such as heated front seats, a power-adjustable steering column, and soft-close doors allow you to raise the luxury quotient within the cabin. The choices of materials used are top-notch and everywhere you touch, it’s all Alcantara. Practicality is not a word synonymous with supercars so this is not a cabin where you’ll find a lot of storage spaces or cup holders. 

It is designed with just one purpose in mind and that is to keep you glued to the seat and steering wheel while you are on your way to smashing the lap record. The seats are also sports seats and made out of carbon fiber which means they are also manually adjustable ones and also there aren’t a lot of adjustability options available too. These are ultra-lightweight seats to keep the weight down and these can be a bit firm considering there is not a lot of padding between you and the seat tub. One thing though, they definitely do hold on to you quite firmly.

There is not a lot of space in the 2021 McLaren 600LT Spider for you to keep all your stuff. The 5.3 cubic feet.t of trunk volume isn’t a lot to keep your luggage from a trip or even a set of golf clubs. In this case, the Porsche is the one here that is the most practical. Along with those extra two seats, it can hold a lot of luggage. Standout interior features in the 2021 McLaren 600LT Spider are:

What’s there to keep you entertained?

You can’t expect a lot of creature comfort features in a normal supercar, but the McLaren is not just another supercar. They are thoughtful people and know their clientele quite well. So unlike some other supercar brands who don’t care about fitting a proper usable infotainment system in the car, McLaren has given in the 2021 600LT a proper 7-inch touchscreen which comes with McLaren’s own IRIS system. 

The McLaren comes standard with Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, in-built navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a basic 4-speaker sound system which can be upgraded to a 12-speaker Bowers and Wilkins system. The 600LT is one hell of a gorgeous-looking car. Now for normal people, the 2021 McLaren 600LT might just be a sportier version of the 570s but the story doesn’t end just there. You see this is a very different car altogether. At the front, there is a massive front splitter, made out of carbon fiber obviously and even the headlights say 600LT and not the 570S. Over the wheel arches, there are gills to let the air out for more downforce. And while we are on the topic of wheels, the car gets a wider track for more grip into a corner. 

Coming to the side, how can we forget the beautiful butterfly doors which are now pretty much the signature of every new McLaren and they just dial up the hotness to many levels. Then there are some more aero elements to make the car as faster as possible. The swooping roofline and the short and tight body frame give the car a very athletic look. One more design element that will definitely make you go wow is the roof-mounted tailpipes and they do look awesome. 

Looks like McLaren has taken some notes from the Porsche 918 Spyder here. At the back, there is a massive rear diffuser with a carbon fiber wing and some more aero trickery to make the car as smooth as possible in that wind tunnel. Honestly, this is a very smashingly gorgeous design. And if all you care about is turning heads, then the McLaren will certainly do the job for you, especially in that lime green metal flake paint job.

McLaren is known to make some really light machines and the 2021 600LT is just among the lightest of modern-day supercars. And in current competition, it also happens to be the longest and widest with Ferrari trailing just inches behind. Supercars are never being crash-tested by the agencies, especially the ones that spit flames out of their roof-mounted exhaust pipes. They cost a lot and it is quite impractical to crash test a car that can go up 204 mph at 40 mph. Also, supercars don’t often come with a lot of driver assistance features and 600LT is no exception. You do get all your standard safety features like airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, and stability control. 

But things like blind-spot monitoring or automatic emergency braking are not offered by the company. The most you get is a rearview camera and all-round parking sensors which also are optional extras. Standout safety features in the 2021 McLaren 600LT Spider include:

The Porsche 911 has always been the supercar killer and in its latest avatar, it is even more powerful and faster. It has been the benchmark in the industry for so long and now the benchmark is even higher. So the Porsche is faster, quicker, more powerful, more practical, more comfortable, and a lot cheaper than the McLaren. So if you want the most value for your money, then you certainly can’t beat the Porsche here. But if you want exclusivity, style, and butterfly doors, then McLaren is the one for you.

2021 McLaren 600LT Spider vs 2021 Ferrari Portofino M

Just like the McLaren 600LT is a hardcore track weapon, the Portofino is on the complete opposite spectrum of the supercar world. The Ferrari is more of a grand tourer and comfortable driver, something you can live with daily and take on cross-country tours. Ferrari might not be as limited in numbers or as special as the McLaren but is certainly a lot more comfortable and easy to drive.

Lamborghini is like the poster car for most of us and we all have dreamt of owning one someday. While it is not as track-focused as the McLaren 600LT but it is certainly a lot more hardcore to drive. The Lamborghini Huracan definitely does look a lot more beautiful but it is not as fast as the McLaren.

Well if you can get your hands on one, then definitely. The McLaren 600LT is a very special car and it certainly is one of the greatest modern-day McLaren ever built. It is fast, powerful, agile, light, and certainly a fire-breathing monster. It is something you can’t buy with your day job. But for what you pay, you are definitely getting your worth.
