Overview

What else can be better than owning a Ferrari to flex your wealth? The Portofino M can be your ride, especially if you are looking for a convertible Ferrari, and does not matter if the company is asking for a price of over $200k. With the twin-turbo V8 engine– this beast produces over 600 horsepower. This entry-level vehicle is quite affordable especially when we look at the pricing of any Ferrari like the SF90. Mainly focused on speed, the car with a clean interior is pretty furious to drive. Unlike the other supercars, the engine on the Portofino M sits ahead of the driver. The tiny back seat trunk doesn't accommodate much. Within 15 seconds, the roof can be retracted and shoppers can have fun in the open sky.

Buying Advice

There are no such versions to choose from, but CARHP recommends the high-net-worth individual to take the additional packages, as bringing only a normal Ferrari with 20-inch wheels won't be a flex. With extra customization, the Ferrari will more suit the customer. The optional Adaptive cruise control adjusts speed to maintain a constant distance between the vehicle and the car in front. The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration can be a choice if you ain’t busy enjoying driving this car. The surround-view camera system helps provide good visibility.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

For the 2022 generation, we cannot expect the Ferrari to deliver any significant alterations. With last year's version, the manufacturer made it more powerful and bought up a new race-oriented drive mode. The roaring exhaust sound remains constant. The iconic exterior styling is still the favorite eyesight for many beholders. Holding up a more alluring persona than the predecessor Ferrari California, the Ferrari Portofino Convertible will be racing against the Aston Martin DB11 Volante, the Bently Continental GT V8 Convertible, and the Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder RWD.

Features
9.0/10

Ferrari does not believe in dealing with several models of a single car and that's why it has only one model named the Portofino M. The car brings an infotainment touchscreen of 10.2-inch–that lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on a standard basis. Offers a single rear-wheel drive architecture.

Carrying extra mpg than the Ferrari, the 2022 Aston Martin is the most fuel-efficient car in the segment. The Bentley Continental GT has the biggest fuel tank and it offers the highest range numbers. 2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder has the dullest economy. The 2022 DB11 Volante serves the shortest fuel tank.

Interior
9.5/10

Inside the Ferrari Portofino M, the cabin design mostly resembles other models that Ferrari offers. It is composed of an elegant persona and magnificent quality materials. The seats get honorable bolstering and stitching to maintain the minute detailing inside the car. The car with lower to-ground appeal creates problems for the taller people to get in and go out of it. The front leather seats are 18-way power adjustable with heating as standard– pay extra to get cool down in summers. The second-row seats are of no use– can be utilized to carry pieces of stuff or for the kids. The cockpit contains carbon-fiber finish everywhere to match the performance-oriented look of the car. The door panels get soft padding with optional body-colored stitching and hold controls for seat adjustments. With some storage space along it, the doors carry a JBL sound system.

The carbon-fiber finish on the door sill with Ferrari written on it. The steering column with a flat bottom design deals with various controls mounted over it–with shift lights up on the top. It gets a bigger size button to wake up the engine finished in red contrast. The convertible roof made of hard materials automatically folds up very seamlessly in 15 seconds. The controls all over the dash and center console hold a physical existence. The dashboard looks simple and clean, but four huge air vents catch the attention first. Under that, a 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with Ferrari written above supports–Apple Carplay and Android Auto with extra money. On the passenger end, a striped LCD screen shows basic stuff like temperature. The center console proposes three bolt-like buttons for the reverse, the automatic mode, and the launch control. A single cup holder with a nicely padded center armrest.

These cars are not made you feel seated in a luxury vehicle, except for the Bentley, which boasts the most luxurious and airy interior of all. The 2023 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder is the car with only a two-seater format. Out of the available options, the Ferrari has the highest cargo carrying capacity. The Volante brings more cargo space than the Bentley.

Highlights of the interior that fetches various features –

  • Bucket seats with 4-way driver lumbar support
  • Full folding rear seats
  • 18-way driver and passenger seat
  • Power tilt and telescopic steering column
  • Fully digital instrument cluster
  • Power rear windows
  • Front cupholder
  • Proximity key for door and push button start
  • Keyless entry
  • Cruise control with a steering wheel control
  • Dual zone front automatic air conditioning

  • Driver footrest

How intuitive is the 2022 Ferrari Portofino Convertable Infotainment system?

The infotainment screen on the dashboard completes the overall look of the confined cabin. It supports both Apple Carplay and Android Auto, but whoever is gonna ask about it when you are steering this quarter-million dollar car. The 10.2-inch touchscreen is responsive but is not that twinkling. The fully digital instrument cluster shows information in popping colors. The Standard 7-speaker JBL audio system proves a weak element when competing with Ferrari exhaust sound. Most controls are mainly physical buttons and can be easily used without expanding your hands much more.

Highlights of the infotainment system include–

  • Satellite Radio
  • 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Speed compensated volume control
  • Steering wheel control
  • Voice activation
  • Aux audio input jack
  • Radio data system
  • External memory control
  • Digital signal processor
  • Window grid antenna
  • Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity

Exterior
9.5/10

The exterior impression of the Ferrari Portofino is like how it should be–a design approximating the Ferrari California. Besides several exterior color shades, the Rosso Portofino truly maintains the legacy of a red Ferrari. The huge elongated hood carries the Ferrari seeded 3.9L twin-turbo V8 engine. Ahead of that the Ferrari horse holds the Italian colors on the top of the logo. The chrome Ferrari logo is mounted on the front down-to-road grille–which consists of four front parking sensors. Headlights get functional cutouts for more air to allow through– to maintain a good aerodynamic efficiency. LED headlights with LED daytime running lights with a blacked-out housing. The front end makes an aggressive face.

The side profile of the car is very sleek and it holds a two-door mechanism. Front aluminum forged 20-inch wheels engage with the tire dimensions of P245/35ZR20. It gets six-piston Brembo brake calipers for the front and four for the rear wheels. The yellow Ferrari logo pops out separately. On the sides above the wheels, it serves two air intakes on either side. The outside mirror is finished in a body-colored hue. The power-operated rooftop easily merges on the back end and is hard to predict it to be a convertible vehicle.

Safety
3.0/10

This Italian horse has not gained any safety ratings from the NHTSA but offers driver-assistive technology. On a standard basis, the vehicle gets front and rear parking sensors that alert the driver about the obstacles that may not be visible in front or behind the vehicle when parking. With the additional ADAS system, the Adaptive Cruise Control– automatically adjusts speed to maintain a constant distance between the vehicle and the car in front. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, warns if the vehicle is in your blind spot during a lane change or while in reverse.

Ahead of that, the following are some more safety features

  • Electronic stability control
  • Electronic side slip control
  • Side impact beams
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Tire-specific low tire pressure warning
  • Dual stage driver and passenger front airbags
  • Dual stage driver and passenger door-mounted airbags
  • Outboard front lap and shoulder safety belts

Competition
4.0/10

  • 2022 Ferrari Portofino Convertible vs. 2022 Aston Martin DB11 Volante

The Aston Martin DB11 is slightly on the heavier side and offers better mileage figures. Both cars have the same V8 engine, but the Ferrari is faster than the DB11. The Aston Martin costs lesser and offers more top speed, while with a bit more dollars, the Ferrari is good at doing a quarter-mile faster. The interior of the DB11 Volante is more premium looking.

  • 2022 Ferrari Portofino Convertible vs. 2022 Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible

With a luxury crunch, the Bentley Continental GT is the car that brings a more price tag. The Ferrari is faster and has lower curb weight. The 2023 Bentley has a longer wheelbase, and it offers a great range. The Ferrari has more space to carry cargo. The Continental GT has more top speed to go, while the Ferrari sprints faster.

  • 2022 Ferrari Portofino Convertible vs. 2022 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder RWD

The Italian bull vs. the Italian horse. The Lamborghini is a 2-seater vehicle, while the Ferrari consists of 4 seats. With a V10 engine, the 2022 Huracan EVO is more affordable and also quicker than the Ferrari. Both cars have significantly different styling and appearance. The Ferrari Portofino gets more mpg while the Huracan EVO has less curb weight. The Portofino has an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the Lambo carries seven.

Final Verdict

If the shoppers want to taste the Ferrari, the Portofino is the most affordable option out on the market. The car gets a thundering V8 engine that sounds crazy. The acceleration is quite exciting, but the handling is not as refined as the Bentley or the Porsche. Offers only a single trim, which too does not bring several prominent safety features on a standard. The other rivals like Lambo Huracan EVO can be a more approachable option if the customer is hungry for speed and acceleration. The Aston Martin brings the best proportions with it.
