When looking for a supercar, Ferrari might be the first brand that comes to your mind for all the right reasons. The Italian automaker has delivered some of the most iconic supercars throughout history and the Portofino carries its legacy forward. Available as a two-door hard-top convertible, the Portofino is a high-performance luxury sports car that combines style, power and comfort effortlessly. With a V-8 engine placed in front of the passenger rather than the back, this Italian machine is also a bit more practical than your usual supercar. The Portofino is powered by a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 612 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. It has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 199 MPH. However, the Ferrari Portofino comes with a price tag of $230,950 rendering it unattainable for many enthusiasts.

In this article, we take a look at the recalls and some of the problems users have had with the 2022 Ferrari Portofino.

Loss of brake function

Ferrari North America, Inc. (Ferrari) is recalling certain 2022 Ferrari Portofino vehicles. The brake fluid reservoir cap may not vent properly, creating a vacuum inside the brake fluid reservoir, and resulting in a brake fluid leak that may lead to a partial or total loss of brake function. A loss of brake function can increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the brake fluid reservoir cap and update the software to provide a new warning message for low brake fluid, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed on September 22, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 29, 2022. Owners may contact Ferrari customer service at 1-201-816-2668. Ferrari's number for this recall is RC 80. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall number 21V-833. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Should you buy the 2022 Ferrari Portofino?

The 2022 Ferrari Portofino does not have any user complaints as the car is relatively new to the market and a price tag of nearly a quarter million dollars doesn't warrant many users in the first place. Although ever since its introduction in 2019, there have been some common issues reported by users like the malfunctioning of the car's electrical system which includes the infotainment system, dashboard display, and warning lights. Some owners have also reported problems with the car's brakes, including squeaking, grinding, and a soft pedal feel.

Moreover, some owners have also had issues with the car's suspension as cases of rough rides and clunking noises have been reported. For a supercar, the Ferrari Portofino has minimal user complaints and recalls. One can also keep in mind that Ferrari holds an unshakable reputation for delivering exceptional build quality.
