Although the 2017 Continental lacks the slick charm of the classic Lincoln Continental, it offers a fair drive. The Continental makes for a versatile and reliable choice for a daily city commuter. The sedan offers an impressive sedan cabin with premium interiors and comfort. The sedan also keeps up with occasional long-distance touring. Considering the price tag of the sedan, it offers a practical and reliable ride. However, the 2017 Lincoln Continental comes across a few issues and complaints. These range from powertrain issues to steering defects. The doors while driving remain to be the most known problem with the car. As per the record, the Continental registers 25 complaints, and 3 recalls for the 2017 model year. Furthermore, the sedan carries a 5-star safety rating. The Lincoln Continental finds its rivals in the likes of the Cadillac CT6, the Genesis G90, and the Acura RLX. The 2017 Continental misses the CarHp list of top-10 midsize sedans by a near margin coming in the 11th place. Here’s a closer look at the car.

Mechanical Problems

  • Powertrain - Powertrain issues are rare but recorded for the Lincoln Continental. Users report instances of the sedan jerking while shifting gears. This can progress to major powertrain concerns. Fixing powertrain issues is both time-consuming and expensive.
  • Steering - Few user complaints report cases of steering malfunction. This causes the locking of the steering wheel. Loss of steering ability compromises vehicle control, increasing the chances of a crash.

Structural Problems

  • Doors Atucators - Door malfunctions are the most common complaints with the sedan. The sedan is prone to opening doors under driving conditions. This increases the risk of injury or a crash and also acts as a road hazard.
  • Seats - Some user complaints report heated seat malfunctions. The malfunction leads to uncontrolled heating of the seat support. This can result in serious burn injuries to the occupants and increases the risk of a fire.

Logistical Problems

  • Recalled parts - Unavailability of recalled parts has been a known issue with Lincoln. Users report dealerships not being able to procure the recalled parts. This leads to delayed vehicle recalls, rendering the customers without a vehicle.
