The Lamborghini Urus is the undisputable X-factor when it comes to extreme SUVs. The Urus is Lamborghini’s first experiment with building an SUV, and the prestigious supercar automaker doesn’t disappoint. The Urus closely resembles a fiery supercar with its chiseled bodywork and exaggerated proportions. Yet the Urus successfully blends in utility as well, with its excellent passenger and cargo space. The monstrous 641 hp twin-turbo V-8 under its hood makes it a force to be reckoned with. The 2021 Lamborghini Urus is certainly the top dog among all premium SUVs in the market, with its exorbitant $220,000 price tag.

For 2021, the Italian automaker unleashes its artistic side by coloring the Urus with a variety of wild paint options. The SUV also gets a host of standard driver assistance tech for a smoother driving experience. The crazy performance elements and gadgetry inside the Lamborghini Urus may also be prone to various issues in the long term. Maintaining a lavish SUV like the Urus can be an arduous task if these problems aren’t addressed soon enough. The Urus is definitely the most practical option on Lambo’s expansive roster of supercars, but it has also received skepticism regarding its build quality and finish when compared to its supercar siblings.

2021 Lamborghini Urus User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical Problems

  • Engine - The powerful V-8 onboard the Lamborghini Urus has relatively stayed free of any problems ever since its production. However, the current Urus faces an inconvenient engine problem that may cause you a lot of fortune to fix. An investigation by the NHTSA revealed that cracks could develop on the engine cylinder bore surface, which could lead to an engine stall or oil leak. This issue has also affected the Urus siblings like the Porsche Cayenne and the Audi RS6. Fortunately for Urus owners, only 4 units were affected by this engine recall.
  • Fuel system - NHTSA recalled older Urus models for a fuel leakage problem from the fuel line quick connector. The immense power generated by the V-8 engine promoted high temperatures, which melted the fuel quick line connector. Thus, this would result in fuel leakage and in the worst-case scenario, a fire breakout. However, no incidents of fire were reported, and Lamborghini quickly resolved this recall within no time.

Safety Problems

  • Seatbelts - The Lamborghini Urus encountered a minor defect in its child seat restraints. The automatic locking retractor of the rear middle seat had a small manufacturing defect, which became evident when the owners tried to use a child restraint seat in the middle. The child seat restraints wouldn’t be secured properly in the middle of the passenger seat because of the retractor defect. Although the issue is on a minor scale, Lambo recalled a few Urus units to resolve the affected seat belt assemblies.
